Town Upgrades Its Online Payment System

New system was installed earlier this month.

The Town of Tewksbury has made major upgrades to the online payment system available through the town web site.

According to Treasurer/Collector Kelly Odoms, the new system was put in place earlier this month and been receiving positive reviews from both residents and town employees.

"Residents have been saying that it's very to use," said Odoms. "And it's great on this end because it makes it very easy to audit and to generate reports.

"It was really a bear getting it installed. We've been working on it since last spring," she said.

The online payment system allows residents to pay such things as property taxes, water and sewer bills and excise taxes online

The biggest upgrade for residents with the new system is the ability to track payments and to call up their history of payments for any account with the town.

Another upgrade is simply the location of the online bill-paying icon. It is now prominently featured on the Tewksbury.net home page.

"It had been a little hard to find before," said Odoms.

The new system doesn't accept payments for payments such as dog licenses, business licenses and inspection fees. Odoms is hopeful that will be coming in the future.

"The ultimate goal is for people to be able to go paperless," she said.

I see no mention of ~ 3.0 % processing fee.
Don Corleone used to charge less than that.

You are right LOL, there is a 2.95 percent processing fee that the credit card companies hit the town with and the town passes it along to the consumer. So the fee being paid goes directly to the CC company, not the town.

I’ll pass, thank you.
Metro Credit charges NOTHING for online banking and bill pay.

I agree Metro even reimburses you for atm fees. This town is a joke I see they still charge the fee of 15 per sport too..Girls softball was the only sport that never charged for that they somehow managed to either eat the cost of raise funds for it..either way it was a burden to the families..
