Two Women Report Being Assaulted

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Two women reported being assaulted last week in separate incidents.

The first incident came to light Thursday, around 5:30 p.m., when Tewksbury Hospital Campus Police called Dispatch and a patient at the hospital reported she had been raped the night before.

The Campus Police officer said that they had reached the point in their investigation when a rape kit was needed. Det. Peter Regan was sent to the hospital with the rape kit and filed a report. The case remains under investigation. No charges have yet been filed.

Early Friday, just before 1 a.m., Tewksbury Police received a 911 call from a Tewksbury home. Two officers were sent to investigate and in the meantime, a second 911 call came in from the same address.

The caller indicated that a woman had been assaulted as she was leaving work in Burlington and had just been dropped off at the Tewksbury residence. Two detectives were assigned to the case. The victim was transported to Saints Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Detectives notified the office of District Attorney Gerry Leone. The case remains under investigation.

Arrests:

Luis Gonzales, 35, 51 Willow St., Lowell, was arrested on Saturday, Dec. 10 after a motor vehicle stop at Stadium Plaza. A Burlington K9 unit was called in for a drug search and Gonzales was charged with possession of a Class B substance with the intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

On Sunday, around 1:30 p.m., a man came into Police Headquarters and identified him as a contractor working for the town to help control the beaver problem. He said that over the past week someone had cut or damaged two of his traps near Bligh Street.
