VOTE: Video Battle of the Bands

Tell us who's the best band of these 12 entries in the North Shore/Merrimack Valley competition. Let us know your pick and why they are your choice in the comment section.

 

Patch Video Battle of the Bands 2012 is here!

More than 20 bands from across Eastern Massachusetts submitted videos of original songs over the past two weeks to multiple area Patch sites in hopes of taking home the top prize.

First off is a regional round in which we pit bands and musicians from the North Shore and Merrimack Valley against one another. They will square off to win bragging rights in the area, a cool prize and a chance to go to the final round and win a rockstar prize pack!

The field for the North Shore/Merrimack Valley round is strong with musical tastes ranging from rock to jazz to pop to metal.

Voting for the regional round will run until noon on Friday, May 4. Please vote by telling us your choice in the comment section below the article. One vote per person per day please. 

The winner of the this regional North Shore/Merrimack Valley round will win two hours of recording time at The Space in Lowell.

Those musicians, along with the second place finisher in this regional round, will then square off against the top two finishers from Greater Boston and South Shore/Cape Cod and the Islands.

The winner of the final round will win a rockstar prize pack! The grand prize winner will headline a gig at The Harp in Boston, as well as receive a cut/color at Avanti Hair Salon, a party bus ride around Boston on Bustonian Party Bus and lunch at M.J. O'Connor's!

I've never heard of any band playing at The Harp. But, they're website indicates they only host cover bands, like Lansdowne Pub. Because entrants only need to be 15, I'm expecting The Harp show to be held during the day.

Bars allow under 21 bands to play all the time. They just have to leave the bar after they are done playing. Best of luck to all the bands and like I said, may the best band win!

This is how the contest went last year, forget the former and Monkey Knife both work really hard to get as many votes as possible, and why would any friend of the band that is premoting their support in the contest want to vote for another band? the contest is all about getting people to vote for the band you are supporting... I personally enjoyed all the bands that submitted videos!

@MRC - perhaps you can translate what Bobby's comments mean then? It sounds to me like he's saying he bets the people voting for those bands haven't paid attention to the rules for voting, mainly they haven't given reason why the band they chose should win. That has been largely ignored as very few votes on here actually state a reason why their pick should win. Am I off target?

Another nod for the Mad Chief! Mad Chief Pat Golini & the Bennett Street Band All-Star Traveling Troubadours are a fun band to see live. They play a trippy mix of blues, rock, and hard core music. You can find yourself in a trance-like state as the Mad Chief drums away in "Pow Wow" and then have the place buzzing with the energy of wild horses as the guitarist rips in to "Tundra." Great show last weekend, boys!!
