Wamesit 8th Grade A Rolls To Three Straight Wins

Warriors take care of business against Melrose, Peabody and Stoneham.

Tewksbury (Warriors) vs. Melrose

 The 8th grade ‘A’ Wamesit Warriors from Tewksbury beat Melrose, by a score of 66-53. Eight players got in the scoring column.  Nick Dunlap scored 6 points, Andrew White 4 points, Devan Bere 4 points, Connor McLean 3 points, Jack Theriault 2 points, and Ryan Bain 3 points.  High scorers were the back/frontcourt tandem of Ryan Briggs with 15 and Justin Derrah leading with 29 points. The Warriors led at halftime by ten, and maintained a lead from start to finish.  Josh Asselin and Brady Rodgers contributed on both ends of the floor in a big team victory.

Tewksbury (Warriors) vs. Peabody

 The 8th grade ‘A’ Wamesit Warriors from Tewksbury won their second straight game, beating Peabody in a rematch of last season’s championship game, 66-61. The difference in this game was the passing, as the ball movement and fast break offense was in full throttle. Justin Derrah again led all scorers with 31 points, including 8 for 11 on free throws, and his 11th three-point field goal on the season from beyond the arc. Josh Asselin was a huge spark off the bench in the first half, Nick Dunlap had 8 points, Jack Theriault and Ryan Bain contributed 6 points apiece, Ryan Briggs scored 5 and led the team in assists, Devan Bere chipped in with 5 points, including a three-point basket, Andrew White had 2 points, and helped clog the middle underneath. Connor McLean was 3 for 4 from the charity stripe, and Brady Rodgers was strong on the defensive end.

 Tewksbury (Warriors) vs. Stoneham

 The 8th grade ‘A’ Wamesit Warriors from Tewksbury won their 3rd consecutive game, winning big over Stoneham by a score of 63-22. This contest was never in doubt, as the Warriors jumped out early, and never looked back. The Warriors received great contributions from the entire team, as every player got into the scoring column for the victors from Tewksbury. Josh Asselin was the leading scorer with 11 points, including a three-pointer. Brady Rodgers scored 7 points, including a three-point shot, and outworked his opponent all day, beating them up and down the floor. Ryan Briggs contributed 9 points, Justin Derrah 8 points, Devan Bere, Nick Dunlap and Andrew White 6 points each, and Connor McLean added 4. Jack Theriault and Ryan Bain chipped in with 3 points each.  The Warriors hope to continue their win streak when they face league rival Saugus this Saturday.
