News Tips of the Week

Is it me or have there been enough helicopters flying around recently to make Tewksbury seem like downtown Beirut?

Wednesday night, we got the following Facebook message from Martha Bradanick. Grant -- "Hey patch, whats up with the helicopter flying over our house in Tewksbury???"

We followed up and found out from police that there had been a missing person report which then turned out to be a hoax. But not before resources, including K-9 and a helicopter, had been called out.

Meanwhile, on Friday, we got another tip on Facebook from Ann Lajoie Matley -- "Patch!! I just rode by the HS and cops all over. Whats going on?"

This tip led to the story on a bomb scare at the high school.

Thank you to all our readers for continuing to be more eyes and ears for us out there.

Comments of the Week

Regarding

From Tricia Dwornick-Indelicato via Facebook -- "it is getting out of hand around here. The kids and times are changing and I hope that the kids that are doing all these things have harsh punishments and not a slap on the wrist."

From Kim Sheehan via Facebook -- "They should not only be punished but maybe pay for some of what this stunt costs. Why is this funny to some of these kids?"

From via the Comments Section -- "This isn't anything new. When I was in that high school in the mid 90's we had one of these per year, generally. Back then it was someone calling in a threat. We were usually back in the school within an hour or so after standing out in the parking lot.

"I am unsure what prompted the evacuation to the Wynn school. We always just stood in the parking lot.

"It is unlikely the person will be found. It is an annoyance, but there isn't much you can do."

Regarding

From via the Comments Section -- "Now get the South St Fire Station occupied by some fire personel. That is a joke that the people of South Tewksbury have to play Russian Roulette every time they need an ambulance or fire truck."

Blog Post of the Week
