What New Business Would You Like To See In Tewksbury In 2013

Tewksbury is experiencing an economic resurgence. What businesses would you like to see come to town this coming year to continue the trend.

2012 proved to be a good year for Tewksbury, economically speaking.

From restaurants like Angelina's, Al Fresca and Orange Leaf to corporations like Thermo Fisher Scientific, Tewksbury welcomed several new businesses to town in the last 12 months.

The question is -- will the trend continue in 2013.

So we pose the question to you, our readers: What businesses (and what types of businesses) would you like to see open up in Tewksbury during 2013? And do you have faith that the economic uptick will continue?

Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Texas Roadhouse by far! It is reasonably priced and has a great variety on its menu. We have quite a few Italian, Pizza and Chinese restaurants in Tewksbury. It would be real nice to have one that has more choices.

I agree Texas Roadhouse would be nice as would Panera Bread or On The Border.

The Assisted Living (or whatever it is) opposite Mahoneys is probably a good fit. Tewksbury does not need any more retail along our Main St or we will look more like those towns stores end to end and no planning or purpose. Commercial / Office / Retail along the Rt 495 / 93 belts is most preferable. No Industrial.
The areas which need cleanup are the old police station and old Brooks / Osco Plaza, neither of these areas are being maintained to minimum standards.

I agree with Malcolm....Also I think we can Guarantee a rule out of getting any businesses that Wilmington got already... So Heavenly Donut is out, Panera is out, Starbucks is a maybe but not on the Wilmington side probably more up towards wal mart if anything, chilis is out.... Whole foods where rite aid and oscos used to be would be AMAZING but i dont hold out tremendous hope for it with Market basket being enormous here and another new one down the road in wilmington.... we definitely need to get the former osco plaza up to speed though its so sad

we have 2 Market Basket stores in town, so I doubt that Whole Foods or Trader Joes would come here. Texas Roadhouse would be a good fit here, but where would it go? How about siting a Panera where the Pollo Loco was?
The plaza where Pushcart is has the most potential for devcelopment due to the large parking lot.

I think that a small cinema would be great in the plaza with Push Cart and the Dollar Store. A Cinemagic theater (had never heard of them prior) opened in what used to be a Linens 'n Things in Sturbridge. It is a perfect location and small.

We have enough restaurants! The ones that exist need us to patronize them - not give them more competition! The same goes for hair salons and nail salons too!

MVP is, I'm assuming geared more towards younger kids. This would be a good local option for teens and adults.

Thatd be awesome if we got a chunkys or like a really good bakery.... either would fantastic although the odl rite aid/oscos is way too big for a bakery...but blockbusters would probably work..

Good idea, Mirabellas sux, all their pastry, pies, and cakes taste like the box they put them in. Market Basket has better..

Whole Foods! Need more healthy food choices ... Agree we don't need more restaurants, especially more chains. Though a Panera would be nice!

Panera blows. If you can't even pronounce anything on the menu, how is it supposed to be good? They even ruin a simple grilled cheese.

A high end restaurant with a good martini bar. We have too many sports bar type places in town. I am thinking like a Venetian Moon in Reading.

Actually, Whole Foods is not a far stretch either - there is one in Andover. Market Basket does the business it does for a reason - the price. Whole Foods is very expensive, but for those who want to shop there, it is a short ride.

Linda is right about Whole Foods. Whole Foods is extremely selective about the towns it sets up shop in. Tewksbury is definitely not anywhere near meeting their criteria. Even Trader Joes would be a stretch. I like Annie's idea. Fast food burrito / Mexican chains are very poplar lately. May do well around here.

I think a sporting goods store, like Modells would do well. Evan a Michaels would probably work too!?! I loved the craft store that was in with Jimbos. Enough with the restaurants & food stores!

We don't have any good burrito places around here - Taco Bell doesn't cut it. Maybe a Chipotle or a Boloco would be nice.

I think an O'connor hardware would be nice in town just like Billerica's. They have everything and the service department is nice when the mower or snowblower need work. I also agree a nice sports store would be good. As far as restaraunts we need something with good American fare like a T-bones in Salem. Great seafood, steaks, pasta's etc.

I know, I go to tewks Hardware and have for many years. They do not sell much power equipment and they do not offer service. The building next to Mac's Ice cream would be a great spot.

I second that! Tewksbury is Pizza town but they aren't very good unfortunately. There isn't an authentic Italian pizza around. Closest thing is Papa Gino's

What about a Target next to the pushcart cafe? Is the space big enough? Anything in that plaza would be nice, it is such an eye sore.

Of any "retail stores" I can think of I'd like Target best. Don't think we need another restaurant....there's more than enough competition for local dollars already in that department.

Why not utilize existing space, rather than building new buildings? The old Ride Aide is an eye sore sitting there so empty. Not to mention the empty Block Buster and the old location for Lowell 5 cent savings. How about a small movie cinema? Indoor doggie daycare? Bowling Alley? Indoor Flea Market? Let's fill what is empty!

A place like "dave and busters" in the Rite Aid plaza would be good too. I agree there are plenty of restaurants in town, but a place with activity like the games, pool tables, bowling - etc would be a nice added addition along with the new MVP. I'm told after a certain hour they are 21+ so prior to that time, it'd be a venue to keep the older teenagers off the streets and give them something to do.

We definitely need more places that will keep business in town...as of right now though, 38 doesn't support it. It is a hassle to use Main St and if we fill all of the vacant buildings along 38, we will be sitting in traffic forever and forcing businesses to close. What needs to happen is widening 38 to accommodate more businesses opening. I am willing to bet that Main St is a deterrent of larger scale businesses coming to Tewksbury.

Well, after trying the new 'Five Guys' in Westford for the first time, I would love to see one open here. I think there would be a niche for a strictly good and juicy customized burger joint and the cajun fries (from fresh potatoes, not frozen) were awesome and overflowing! Free FRESH peanuts in the shell too! They get great reviews: http://www.fiveguys.com/
