Recently, the web site parentdish.com posted a link to this report from Good Morning America. The topic was a debate over whether parents should allow their teens to have sex with their girlfriend or boyfriend in their home.

Parents who supported allowing it believed that it created a safe environment for something that was inevitable. Other parents firmly disagreed, stating that to do so was to give in to their children and shirk their responsibility as parents.

We asked members of of Moms Council to view the report and then answer the question, "Do you think it's a good idea for parents to allow their teen children to have sex in their home?"

Here are the answers we received.

Lisa Spinelli-White -- I don't even need to read this story, the answer is NO WAY! Let them all get as creative as the rest of us and maybe it'll stop a few bad decisions.

Maureen Castiglione -- "I personally do not think it's a good idea.  My parents were very open and honest with me about sex growing up, as were my husbands parents with him.  Sex was not something to be ashamed of.  We will be just as honest with our kids.  If they ask, I will be honest about my sexual past and experiences, both good and bad, as will my husband.  Once they become active, I will encourage them to have safe sex.  I will also explain all about the legal age of consent (which is 16 according to MGL Chapter 265, Section 23) and make sure they understand the laws.  I will not, however, let them have sex in my house while I am there."
