January Programs for Kids at the Tewksbury Public Library

Last year we had the year of no snow, but it doesn't look like that will happen again this winter. So we're gearing up for plenty of warm fun in the Children's Room for kids of all ages.

Please note that the Library is CLOSED on Monday, January 21st to observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

For All Ages:

The 3rd Saturday of the month is our Do-It-Yourself Craft Saturday for all ages. Drop in between 10:00am and 12:00pm on Saturday, January 19th to make a simple craft in our Craft Room. No registration is required and all are welcome!

The 4th Saturday of the month is our Family Movie Matinee at 2:00pm. This month we are screening Disney's Secret of the Wings. Bring along a blanket or sleeping bag and pillow and stretch out on our Meeting Room floor to watch. Snacks and drinks are welcome. Anyone can come (we've got chairs for the grown ups) and proper movie behavior is expected at all times.

For Babies and Toddlers:

Tiny Tykes Story Time is for ages 0 to 18 months. We'll start building early literacy skills with stories, songs, instruments and gentle movement. Come on Monday, January 14th and 28th at 10:15am and 11:00am. No registration is required and older children are always welcome to tag along.

Wiggle Time is for 2 year olds (including children 18 months and up). Our toddlers will listen to stories, sing, dance, learn fingerplays, play instruments and more, building valuable literacy, rhythm and coordination skills. No registration is required and older or younger siblings are welcome. Wiggle Time is on Thursdays, January 3rd, 17th, 24th and 31st at 10:15am and 11:00am. Drop in!

Our monthly Drop in Toddler Craft is on Thursday, January 10th from 10:30am to 11:30am. Come by any time during the hour to make an easy winter craft (gluesticks and crayons are the most complicated we get). No registration required.

And we've got another Dance Party for ages 1 to 6 coming up on the 25th. See the next section for the description!

For Preschoolers:

Preschool Story Time is an active session of stories, dancing, music, a Guess Box and much more! It is geared to ages 3 to 5 and is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, January 2nd, 8th, 15th and 29th. No registration is required and older or younger siblings are welcome to join us.

Pajamarama Story Time is for ages 3 to 7 on Wednesday, January 16th at 7:00pm. Wear your pjs and enjoy stories, songs and movement with Miss Amy. No registration is required and pjs are optional.

Dads & Donuts Story Time for ages 3 to 6 is on the second Saturday of every month. Join us on January 12th at 10:30am for fun stories and songs folllowed by snacks, juice and coffee afterwards. While we encourage dads, uncles, grandfathers and other favorite guys, all caregivers are welcome. Older and younger siblings are always allowed to join us as well. No registration required.

It's time for another Dance Party for ages 1 to 6 on Friday, January 25th at 11:00am. Join Miss Noelle as she teaches us the moves to different songs, then we boogie on down together! A ticket is required for admittance to this event as space is limited. Every "body" going into the room needs a ticket. Tickets are FREE and available at the Children's desk beginning on January 14th.  Limit of 6 tickets per person.

Our monthly Drop in Preschool Craft for ages 3 to 6 is on Wednesday, January 9th from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Come make a winter craft with us. No registration is required, just drop by any time during the session to create one.

For Older Kids:

Come try out our Craft & Cocoa day on Wednesday, January 23rd for ages 5 to 12 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.  Make a craft and then enjoy some hot cocoa afterwards! No registration is required, just drop by any time during the hour to make the craft and sip some hot chocolate!

The Read to Me Book & Craft Club is for kids in kindergarten up through 3rd grade. We all read the same book beforehand, then we meet to have snacks, talk about the book, and make a craft based on the story. We'll be discussing Sleds on Boston Common by Louise Borden, based on a true story of the American Revolution. This month's meeting is on Wednesday, January 30th at 3:45pm.  Space is limited, so please register by calling the Children's desk at 978-640-4496 or signing up online through the Library's Calendar of Events. Registration begins on January 22nd. Don't forget to come pick up a copy of the book at the Children's desk to read before we meet.

And don't forget about our DIY Craft Saturday on January 19th for all ages!

For more information about any of our programs and events, please call Noelle or Amy in the Children's Room.
