Hi Jenni,
I love Superbowl parties. Appetizers should always range from easy like chips and dip to wings. An easy wing recipe is:
2 cups of soy sauce, 1/2 cup of OJ, and 1/2 tsp minced garlic. 2 packs of chicken wings with the tips cut off. marinate for 24 hours and then bake for about 1 to 1 hour and 20 minutes. turning half way through. Main dish, can be Calzones. They are fairly simple. You can make as many different kinds as you like. from cold cut combos with ham, mozzarella, salami, to meatball and mozzarella with your favorite sauce. For desserts, I tend to stay simple like, ice cream sundaes for the kids, to cupcakes and truffles for the adults. If making a truffle, you can go with the team colors when alternating your layers. You can always add food coloring to cool whip to add say Patriot Blue to your dish. Have fun!

Hi Hollie,
The latest buzz ont he patch is the 8th grade semi formal. What do you think of Mr. Weir taking away the 8th grade semi formal ? It has been a tradition in this town for years. Many kids look forward to it, and some have even purchased their outfits. Mr Weir refuses to answer questions from the parents and students on this . What is he teaching the children ?

Hi Kristin,
I feel bad. I think the semi formal is something that alot of kids really look for every year. I feel like it is almost a right of passage for every kid. I have read all the comments on this issue, & I really don't understand Mr. Weirs point. He wants this to be some kind of get together on a team building basis? I am not sure that is something that can be considered on the same scale as a dance. I think if he wants to have team building activities, then he should have them on school time, such as during gym class, or a general assembly during school hours. I think a dance, wether the kids dress fancy, in tuxes, dresses, gowns, or jeans is a teenagers right & to take it away seems well, can you say "Footloose"?. Mr. Weir should have addressed this issue at the beginning of the year & made it clear to all the children & parents then so there wouldn't be an issue at this point in the year. I can't say why he won't answer any questions, maybe he is choking on his words. I would hope that the parents & children can find maybe another venue & host their own sort of dance? Maybe the Elks or something? I don't really know what the rules for something like that are, but it may be worth looking into. I wish I could offer some space to use, but I don't have one to give. I know I had fun at my 8th grade semi formal. I had my first slow dance, it was awesome. I mean come on, a teenager without doing the macarena with their friends is just wrong! Good Luck.

Hi Hollie
I think you should run for something in our town too. I think it would be nice to have a fresh voice for the people in this town. I do have a question for you though. If you did run, what would you change about our town? thanks.

No offense meant here by any means...but it's one thing to give advice....quite another to actually run for an office.

Talk about Debbie downer, Karyn. Maybe u should stick to your picture taking. She didn't even answer and you are commenting. That is why we need new blood in this town.

Hi Pinsley and Melanie,
Thanks for the vote of confidence! I however would never venture into politics, especially small town politics. I would probably cause more problems because I don't agree with most politics as it is. So, that being said, I will just stick to my blog. As for Karyn and Lupe, please don't argue, that is not the type of blog I write. And one other thing to Melanie, What would I change about this town? Well there are way too many to list, sorry. But again Thanks.

Boy, talk about getting 'jumped on' for no good reason Lupe.....pictures? huh??? No argument from me Hollie and I like your advice as a rule. By my comment I only meant that IMO, one needs to be involved in town committees/volunteering on a smaller scale to 'learn the ropes' so to speak, having some concept as to how things/mtgs. are run and how the town works before jumping into running for office. While I agree on "fresh ideas" as being a good thing....it is one thing to have them and quite another to know how to work within the confines of town government as a board member in trying to implement them. It is all a learned process as a cohesive team and much different from blogging. And as I said initially, I meant no offense to anyone and commend those who would take on such a commitment.

Hi Hollie,
I got a hair in my food at a dinner party for my mother at a fancy restaurant. there were 10 of us, so I didn't say anything as to not ruin anyone elses dinner. I just pretended I was done with mine. I was pretty grossed out. My husband said I should have told everyone, especially him. Now he is ticked at me. What would you have done?

Hi Debbie,
That grosses me out so much! I have had that happen to me before and I immediately told the manager and yes it ruined my meal and my husbands. I have also been in a situation very similar to yours very recently at Legal Seafood. It happened to someone in our party. It happened to be in a dinner roll. When we told and showed the waiter, the manager promptly came over and gave his honest apology. Luckily for us the rolls were not made by legal seafood as they are brought in from elsewhere. But the manager gave us free apps and drinks. So that being said, I would have mentioned it to the server. If anything you may have gotten some kind of discount. p.s. no matter what, I would have told my hubby.

Hi Hollie,
How would you address a co-worker who dresses very inappropriate at work? It's an office, not a club. Thanks.

Hi Rosemary,
Does it bother just you? or the office as a whole? If it is just you, I would let it go. I wouldn't say anything because it will just amount to tension between the two of you. If your not her boss, then its not your place. However, if it is an office issue as a whole, then I would collectively go to your boss or office manager and tell her that your group finds it offensive and let her take the wheel, that is why they get paid the big bucks.
