Hi Hollie,
Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with a bratty kid in my daughters day care? It seems like the staff at the daycare do nothing, and now my daughter is afraid to get out of the car when we pull up. And by bratty, I mean pulling hair, taking her toys, even stealing her food, and hitting her. Thanks.

Hi Sal,
Congratulations on your first "married" Valentines. It depends on what you are into. You could go to Mohegan or Foxwoods. They have some nice Valentines Day things, and if you stay over, they have packages where you can have champagne and strawberries in the room. You could go out and have an intimate dinner at a nice restaurant, but make reservations. You could stay in & prepare a great dinner for your spouse and have a special gift ready, something homemade usually has a bigger impact than something bought. You could put together a scrap book with some of the special memories you have already, like concert tickets, special pictures, handwritten notes, a ribbon..etc. Really just getting together and spending time together is a sweet valentines, and maybe some chocolate too..

Thanks for writing. I know alot of parents who have been in similiar situations. You have to go directly to the center director. Voice your concerns loud and clear. Your daughter has personal space just like anyone else and it should not be violated. If she is afraid, then she has reason, because kids are not afraid by nature. They don't really know any better. If the center director is not willing to fix this situation, by either talking to the other childs parents, setting up a meeting, or keeping the children in two seperate rooms, then you need to seriously think about a different center.

Hi Hollie, should I snow blow my elderly neighbors driveway? He lives alone, and has a hard time doing anything. It wouldn't even be an issue, but he is mean to my son and his friends. HE always complains about them bouncing the basketball in the summer and takes the kids baseballs if they land in his yard...What do you think?

You know, kids learn alot from seeing. Set the example and show them that you are the bigger man here. Lead by example. My Nana used to say, "you get alot more with honey than vinegar." Who knows, maybe you will get those baseballs back in the spring.

well said Hollie,
How do I address the ignorant plow drivers that take my mailbox out during every storm?

Hi billy,
You can call the town and let them know your address. Tell them that you have had your mailbox destroyed by a plow driver and they supposedly will send you some sort of reimbursement. If you can, having any information about the driver or plow company can help. Good Luck.

hi Ma,
Well I know I would be too. 16 is young, but I guess curiosity is normal at this age. Your husband is right that that it is normal, but I am not so sure that a backpack is the best place for your son to have it assuming that he takes that backpack to school. What happened to under the mattress? I would have your husband have a talk with him about it, and don't embarrass him.

Hi Hollie,
Can you tell me about yourself? I mean, I like your blog so much. I think your insight is great and your wit is very good. I think you answer with poise and truth. Do you have any formal training? thanks.
