The SEIU Family Childcare Union Bill. This bill forces Family Childcare Providers who accept state vouchers to join the union, or if they don’t join the union, pay up to 90% of the union fees anyways. It gives the Union the right to negotiate rates with EEC, making Family Childcare Providers employees of the State. This bill will not give the providers any of the benefits of being a state worker (insurance, etc). In many cases this forces those providers to work for less than minimum wage.
I believe this bill will lower the quality of childcare for low income families and limit their choices for childcare even more than it currently is. I believe it will drive down the market rates across the state, and force many experienced providers out of the business. The ultimate effects of this bill will be to limit the quality of childcare for all children.
MA has the most stringent standard of care of any state in this country. Keeping the quality of care up is important to the future of our state. This bill will make this impossible.

Time for the little "bowling ball" to roll over into the gutter. He just doesn't get it. Less is more, get out of the way and stop dragging out the recession.

This certainly appears to be outragous. It is hard enough for both parents to work today and show a profit after paying taxes, travel expenses, lunches etc. One person in the household may as well stay home because of the high cost of day care; which may be the goal that we are facing. I don't believe they will be able collect unemployment, but it will open new jobs for those in the search of jobs and with mom or dad staying home it will lower unemployment. The people searching for jobs may find one at the expense of the person that was forced economically to leave one. What happened to the America we all loved and respected? Where we helped each other? Today everything is a game placing the unions ahead of the voters and families. Is it another union bailout? I hope there is an explanation for all of this, I can't believe it's happening in America.

Here's my personal opinion: I would much rather hear about what you would do at the State House than what Miceli has done. I can decide for myself as to what role Miceli has played. If you want to convince voters you are the right candidate, why not focus entirely on laying out your goals and positions? We, as the electorate, can decide for ourselves if our elected leaders are doing a good job. I am constantly annoyed at how candidates at all levels on politics focus so much time on attacking each other rather than actually saying what they want to do. It does nothing in terms of winning my vote. I would much rather vote for someone who lets me decide which candidate is better by explaining his beliefs and strengths rather than attacking his opponent.

And I'm not saying Miceli is any better than you in terms of doing this. It tends to be a problem at all levels.

Outrageous and stupid Democrat legislation with the intent of sucking more money out of taxpayer wallets. Liberalism is, truly, a mental illness.

Yes, it is time for me to work interested citizens of Wilmington on the High School situation. Yes, I support its being built as soon as possible + a turf field in place.

But, agreement needs to implement appellants' concerns, where reasonable. Let me hear your suggestions first-hand how -- as an objective outsider -- I might help bring a positive outcome where insiders are too entrenched in their positions to help? Call me.

As someone who has children in daycare I think they are already overregulated. Some can be good an necessary as I think some are. But some of these regulations are ridiculous. I can't see how unionizing the workers would help any. And forcing any working adult to join a union is un-American. It should be thier choice and they should not be penalized or, the million dollar word these days, bullied into joining.
