School Vacation Week at the Library: Things to Do for the Kids!

The holidays are over, but school isn't back in session yet.  What is there to do for the kids?  Well, you can come on down to the Library for lots of FREE fun this week!

The Library is closed Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, December 25th, but we are open normal hours Wednesday through Saturday.

On Wednesday, December 26th, children ages 5 to 12 can come to our Art Adventures program from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.  In Art Adventures, we check out the artwork in a picture book, then we try to make our own art based on the style. It might be collage or paint or squares that we use. No registration is required, just come on by any time during the session to make our art project of the day.

On Thursday, December 27th, kids ages 8 and up are invited to a special evening program at 7:00pm called Ahoy! Pirates!   You'll learn about the Pirate Code, pirate myths, buried treasure, pirates in pop culture, and many notorious pirates with presenter John Horrigan. Please register for this program through our calendar of events.  Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding this program.

On Friday, December 28th at 10:30am, all ages are invited to our Morning Movie Matinee.  We'll be screening the newly released film, ParaNorman.  We encourage you to bring your blankets or sleeping bags and pillows and stretch out on the floor to watch. Chairs are also available. You are welcome to bring snacks, too.  No registration is required, but proper movie behavior is expected. This film runs 92 minutes and is rated PG.  Thank you to the Friends of the Library and the Lions Club for funding this program.

On Saturday, December 29th, children ages 3 and up are invited to our Family Board Games Day between 2:00pm and 4:00pm.  We've got board games aplenty for all different ages, so stop in any time and play some games with your family or friends.  No registration required.

We haven't forgotten our babies! Bring them to Tiny Tykes Story Time on Monday, December 31st at 10:15am OR 11:00am and have fun learning early literacy skills with stories, songs and gentle movement. No registration is required.

Please note that we are closing early on December 31st at 2:30pm. The Library is also closed on New Year's Day, January 1st.

Everyone in the Children's Room and at the Tewksbury Public Library wishes our town a happy holiday season and a fantastic beginning to the New Year!
