As we now approach the final week of Minor Farm Cubs Baseball (boys 6 & 7 yrs old), we wanted to reflect on the season and review the highlights.

The season started with anticipation of many great accomplishments. Five Coaches came together with several goals in mind; teach the kids the fundamentals of baseball, ensure no one gets hurt, and for the kids to have fun and love the game of baseball for years to come. 
 
Well, the Cubs exceeded expectations! 
 
Lead-off hitter Matt Cooke continued to scare opposing coaches with his mean rips back to the mound…..Catcher of the Year Will Skaaland made a habit out of catching foul tips……the overly intimidating Jack Donovan couldn’t resist nailing every first pitch…..followed by Anthony Burgess who likes to turn double plays “for fun”…..then there was Jake Ryan who likes to show the pitchers his “shimy shake move,” as he calls it, before he lays down a bunt and legs it out…..and then there was Colin Caggiano who used to pretend that he couldn’t see the ball, only to lure in the outfield, in order to hit it over their heads…..and of course there was Adam Ellegood who used to always follow his traditional practice swing with a fearfull line drive…….and how can I forget the devastating power of Tim Lepore who likes to drill long balls to the outfield just to see the opposing players chase them……and then there was Vincent Marchelletta…..who likes to ask opposing players to count the letters on his back while he rounds second and heads to third…..and how can I forget Josh Pinto who likes to pretend he’s unsure at the plate, only to be sure to slice a mean hit into right field…..and then there was Michael Tortolano who is one of the smaller players on the team, but hits like a big leaguer and throws like an ace……and of course, how can I forget to mention Fearless Cooper Lemieux who likes to throw his body in front of any line drive…….Ryan Thompson’s Homerun Swing will make his parents proud for years to come…..and Last, but certainly not least, Antonio Nevano, who prefers to hit doubles “because singles are boring”……….
 
We are very proud of the Cubs this year for truly growing, learning, and thriving at every game.  The Cubs Parents were clearly the “10th man” on the field, always being supportive of every single player.
 
Looking forward to Trophy Day on Saturday June 9th, where the Cubs will get what they truly deserve, trophies that prove they are winners!
