If you agree with fewer than 5 points we need to get you out of rehab and into the real world. We were sent here to complete a mission and we must not fail.

I wanted to add to the article that conservatives are eager to help those that are truly in need. It is the young and healthy individuals that are looking for an easy way out in life that concerns most Conservatives. They are eating all of the cookies stealing from those that are truly in need. Some may think disability for life is compassionate while others think it's a death sentence. Today disability is for life. We all need a purpose in life. We must never lose sight of the American dream. Conservatives are above all generous, ask any waiter or waitress which Conventions do they recieve more tips from. My wife did not give me a sail boat the size of the Mayflower, but we manage to donate as much as those with wives that did. Our welfare system known as the Nanny state has broken up many families. Dad has become an ornament in the house unable to compete with the government and soon finds himself out in the street and the children without a father. He has become a financial human sacrifice. Then the real problems of living without dad begin to surface, such as drug, alcohol abuse and school grades. It's time to restore the families with a mom & dad as God intended. Nanny likes it the way it is, but soon she too will be broke.

More bad news Tom. The three candidates for Mass. GOP Chair want to circle the wagons around the same groups as always. How many losses will it take before Republicans realize the country is Conservative, not RINO, not Liberal. They simply still like Santa Claus. What will happen when the well runs dry? I wouldn't be surprised if they stole the Conservative platform. We need to circle the wagons around Conservatives. Our problem is they are listening to the Democrats not the majority. How many Liberal votes did Scott Brown recieve? Basically none. Ignoring the Tea Party killed him and the Liberals ignored him. It's unfortunate.

Actually Don, it's pretty clear following the Chair debate in Gardiner Monday night that Rick 'gets it', - and Kristen is still part of the old guard party apparatus.

He is a man of independent thought and action, - she keeps looking over her shoulder for Brown's approval.

I am saddened to report that many of the 'cafeteria Republicans' - mostly women - seem to want her. Something about being pro-choice. Very sad for our party - on the 40th anniversary of R v. W.

Hi Guys
I kind of like Big Government!
I like knowing that we have the strongest military in the world!
I like knowing that we have the best highway system in the world!
I like knowing that we have the best medical care in the world-thanks to government sponsored research programs!
Most everything we enjoy today was the result of government sponsored programs -
cell phones, computers, the internet, microwave ovens, safe food, safe cars, clean air etc. etc

I like to know that if I have a medical emergency I can dial 911 !
I like to know that the air I breathe and the water I drink are safe!
I like to know that when I fly that the plains are safe!

The list of things Big Government does for us is endless.
Before you guys (Conservatives) criticize Big Government you should sit down and
think what you have because of "Big Goivernment" and count your blessings !!!

Would it be a stretch to assume you also WORK for big government?

As far as us having 'the strongest military in the world' – you need to look again. We no longer have enough to fight two simultaneous wars, and between Obama and Panetta, - and sequestration – we're getting weaker by the day.

Today just the INTEREST on our debt to China funds their entire military.

We're drowning in 'big government' - yet they can't find and round up 11 million illegals. One just murdered a baby in Cambridge....

Hi Iron Mike
Never worked for the government. Been in private business all my life.
With regards to the military getting weaker by the day, you should keep up with the news. I think the drone program is a pretty powerful weapon and also we are beginning to establish a serious military presence in the far east (containment of the Chinese buildup)
With regard to Debt, I find that Republicans are Fiscally Irresponsible!
Under Reagan the national debt went up over 200%, (that's when they started the Debt Clock if you recall) Under the two Bushes another 150% !!!
And don't forget that it was that Glorious President Nixon that started economic dealings with the Chinease!

Don't see how we are drowing in Big Government - All I see are good programs coming from the government.
Programs to protect business from unfair trade practices!
Programs to protect business from counterfit materials coming into the country!
Programs to prevent tainted food from coming into the country.
Hope you got your Flu Shot this winter!

George your thinking of the good ole days when money was no object. Becareful when your brag about the highways, have you been out of the house in the last few years. THE GOVERNMENT HAS SPENT ALL OF OUR MONEY, George. It's time to get the private sector involved in many of these projects. I like cadilacs but I can't afford them so guess what, I don't buy them. There's no one running the Institution in Washington or on Beacon Hill. We have to live within our means. I have friends clipping coupons while the government clobbers them with unnecessary taxes. They are advertizing for more people to get on the wagon, who will be left to pull. My wife and I live within our means, but our taxes are killing us. If I thought for a moment higher taxes would help, I'd be less apt to complain. The President keeps repeating failed policies. WHERE'S the jobs George. The trillions we have blown on jobs could buy a lot of them. the money is used to buy votes and increase trhe Presidents power. The other shoe is about to drop, I hope were not under it.

Love this. Thanks for posting. The media has done a brilliant job brianwashing people into believing lies about Conservatives. When they have no argument against our rationale all they can do is shout 'racist' or 'woman-hater' (which couldn't be FURTHER from the truth!). It's quite pathetic and so old. Hoping people start to think for themselves instead of letting the news or pop culture dictate what they think or how they vote.

Being a conservative in this state most of my votes have never counted, but I always continued to hope for the best. This past election was really a wake-up call with Scott Brown not getting re-elected. It wasn't just that he lost, it's who got the votes to replace him. This proved to me that this state is hopeless. As far as the federal level goes, it's looking more like Massachusetts. I think this country has reached the point of no return, I don't think this country will ever be as it once was. I don't see how a real conservative could ever get elected as president again, but I hope I'm wrong.

Question to conservatives-
As Don stated- life is precious, so how do conservatives stand on Capital Punishment? How about on life threatning programs that provide screening for women for breast cancer.
How about programs that provide food for people that are dying from malnutrition?

How about gun control? Saving one life from a death by a firearm would be precious!

George, that's a lot of questions and I have to leave my wife is beeping the horn.
1. On Capilal Punishment Conservatives depending on the circumstances believe in Capital Punishment. The killer is a danger to society and the crime was vicious then Capital Punishment should be imposed. 2. I am a cancer survivor and a advocate of early detection+ early correction. My wife and I have attended a support group fpr new patients nine years, providing hope. We are endanger of PSA test being reduced and everyone in the group exploded jnowing without those test we would not be here today. 3. The Republican Town Committee began a food drive a month ago and we plan to contiue it for the food Pantry. Republicans are very generous with all charities. 4. I could go on for ever about being an armed citizen, that is what has kept this country safe. In spite of the extremist on the otherside that have never owned a gun. The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting, it's protection. As long as they keep the focus on guns they will never protect the children or anyone else. Take away the guns and radicals will find another way to kill.

George, Great questions and I thank you for the opportunity to enlighten you.

1. Capital Punishment - As you said, all life is precious. All the more reason to protect every life from the pure evil that walks among us. When we find those who choose to kill for the sole purpose of "fun" we must protect the rest of society from them with the ultimate punishment.

2. Health Screening - Conservative are for and always have been for preventative health screenings. Don't listen to the Democrat talking points. The difference is we don't want a panel in Washington DC deciding my 85 year old mother shouldn't get one because of her age and future benefit to society.

3. - Malnutrition - If you look at our governments "War on Poverty" you will see we have wasted billions and maybe trillions of dollars and the problem is worse today than it was when it started. Maybe you and the liberals should be asked why you think doing the same thing now will work any better. To quote Einstein "doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different results, is the definition of insanity"

Bob

12:44 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2013

Continued....

4. - Gun control - I enjoyed watching our liberal friends cheer and celebrate the passing of the NY gun bill. It surely will solve all murders in NY. Except, it outlaws guns because of grip (pistol) and magazine including law enforcement officers (amendments are being worked on now). Try to educate yourself and you will learn that "Assault" weapons have been illegal in America since the 1930's. The real issue is finding those truly evil in our society and deal with them BEFORE they kill. Tim McVeigh didn't have a single gun and killed more people and as many kids as died in Newtown CT. When will the liberals start addressing the real issues that have lead to OVER 500 MURDERS in Chicago? Or is it because those are mostly black youth, they don't matter? Sad.

Since you present yourself as a spokes-liberal George, please tell us - where is the Justice in Michael 'Mucko' McDermott still being alive?

Why are we paying for a sex-change operation for Robert/Michelle Kosilek? He[she] murdered his wife? Once he[she] has her operation - and claims that 'Robert the murderer' no longer exists - you willing to see her paroled?

If Adam Lanza had shot up a school in Tewksbury - and been taken alive, - would you be 'satisfied' with him getting a life sentence? Dominic Cinelli had been given 3 life sentences, - then paroled, - when he killed Office Jack Maguire - just 25 months ago. You still like the Massachusetts liberal view on justice?

What if James Eagan Holmes had shot up a theater near you. Life Sentence? Followed in 15 years by a Deval Patrick parole board?

YES George, some of us believe in the Death Penalty.

Derf, It is my humble opinion that the country is Conservative. We have Candidates recieving their game plan from their opponents. When was the last time a liberal or a Democrat crossed the asile for Scott Brown on a crucial vote? Yet he did it for them several times. Our candidates must understand Elizabeth Waren was not elected by the issues she holds dear. She was elected as part of the Democrat slate. Democrats will not give a Republican their vote no matter what he promioses, because most have no idea what his/her platform is. Scott made a mistake not working with the Tea Party. Like I said earlier the dirty little secret is the Tea Party introduced a great deal to all campaigns while being demonized by our opponents. I don't think Scott did well in Liberal Utopia and then he lost the Tea party. Loss/loss

George one of the greatest rights we have is the right to vote. When corruption takes hold in the voting booth it's over. It spreads like Small Pox to every other department within the government. Last election we had precincts in Florida with say 90,000 voters and 110,000 voted. The corruption in this country is in high gear. No one has taken it serious from either party and this is very troubling. The last election the country turned into little Chicago. There's a stonewall around the probnlem of voter fraud and it MUST BE STOPPED NOW. I could write a book on this problem but so many other things are in need of attention as well. HOPEFULLY THE COUNTRY WILL PICK UP THE BALL BEFORE WE BECOME MEXICO. The problems are at the higher levels of government where the stonewall begins. I've been fighting it here for ten years.

George you seem to be in denial. I mentioned that neither party showed much interest in the corruption caused by voter fraud. This is shared blame in my opinion. Democrats claim is's only 1% or less. Acorn was insulted they thought they did a better job than that. The number in my opinion is well over 5-10 %. If the candidate does not show an interest in this dangerous attack on the people they will not enjoy my vote next time around. You wonder who's going to pay for it. It should be voluntary performed by the Registry or some group like that should provide the I.D. free to people that say they ncannot afford to pay, honor system. Most Americans will do the right thing. Trillions and trillions of dollars ago we didn't worry about trivial things such as that. Your Democrat talking points will not protect the U.S. Constitution. The people we elect, legally or illegally will take care of that or tear it up. Don't protect this monster your country and the generations that follow will pay the price.

Registered to vote way-back-when , showed proof of residency and that was that. No need of ID cards! Hi Bob, what would I do about the poverty problem. I would improve the job market by getting the government off the backs of job providers. 1. Say no to Obama care. it's expensive and does not include certain groups and does not charge other groups. Nancy Pelosi and her followers believe welfare, unemployment, and disability are as good as a job. That conclusion is built on sand and any thinking American understands how empty her thought machine has always been. As far as the gun discussion is concerned the Democrats have created another monster, guns. Guns have saved millions and millions of lives more than they have taken. Waving the gun monster around allows them to stir up the emotional crowd. It's like Doctors that blame everything on the sun. If you don't follow the crowd your out of touch. If you've solved the problem by eliminating the gun monster then you can end the search, job finished. We must look beyond the easy answers if we are serious about finding a real solution to any problem.

Without the government's purchasing power there would be no jobs.

Where would companies that make GPS devices be without the space program.
The government (which by the way is you and me) is the engine that drives the economy.

Speaking of guns and abortion; - today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day - the Day the Russians came upon Auschwitz....

Sadly, American abortion doctors have killed more than the Nazis did - some 50 million unborn babies - some late term, - some partial birth - since Roe v Wade.

I'll ~ begin ~ to believe liberals care about kids when they stop killing them at the rate of 1,3 million / year - and brainwashing the ones they let live in our schools - so they don't grow up thinking like George.

Hi Iron Mike
Didn't mention anything about abortion. But I do believe the government shouldn't tell
a woman what to do with her body. Just more government control over people.
My take on it is somewhat different from everyone else- With all the medical advances over the last 40 years you would think that the pro-lifers would have come up with a medical means to safely remove the fetus from the body at the earliest stage and incubate it till term. Thus, solving the problem - preserving the life yet giving women their freedom to choose. Instead of spending money on restricting women's right to choose they should be spending it on solving the problem !!!

As a political observer from the days of Truman, I have come to realize that the last great Republican president was Eisenhower. He was the only one that did anything for the country -namely The interstate Highway system and peaceful uses for Nuclear Energy. Since then not one great program to benefit the country has been proposed by Republicans. All the great programs that we have today were initiated by Democrats. If you can name one program in the last 60 years that benefit the country, or people initiated by a Republican I would like to Know!
They are a party of complainers and obstructionists, don't propose anything worthwhile just criticise !

George the Voter I.D. problem is easy to solve. Like most problems when solutions are weighed against benefits solutions are cast aside. What goes around comes around. If it is broken we need to fisx it or soon no one will bother to vote. The voter registration is dummied down. No picture I.D is allowed we take their word under the penaty of false statements equalling $10,000.00 dollars. I do not believe anyone has ever been fined. Voter registration is intentionaly made simple to increase the number of voters. we should not make it as simple as we did. When people vote they show no I.D. and it has been reported that some vote for a name given to them taken from someone that winters in Florida. Many vote in Florida as well as Massachusetts they are seldom if ever checked. They register on the street or at the Garden with groups such as acorn, Motor Voter. those registering them can easilly throw away opposition party forms. I don't believe they are even time stamped. It is a system that is designed to fail honest voters. Most Republicans want Voter I.D and most Democrats don't. Why? If it smells like a rat it probably is a rat. I will try to cover this tragedy in a later article. I'm sure you understand the overview. I was a voter Registrar in Tewksbury for several years. This is a problem Americans should take serious. We monitor countries like Mexico, but instead of leading them we are following them. Is that what we really want?

George, you never saw a government job or program you didn't embrace. I sold to the U.S. Gov't. and the Canadian gov't. for 29 years. I embrace many things that they do that make us safe and the space program that provided so much technology to the world in the form of new ideas. I was involved with ASW Anti Sub-Marine Warfare. It's the unreasonable regulations and taxes they impose on companies driving them overseas. The gov't provides a great deal to job providers. Yes they do. Don't forget these compamies design products that satisfy customer demands benefitting the gov't paying for their own R&D. It's a two way street. They must learn to work together everything they demand of companies is eventually passed on to the consumers. The government with all of its power can make tough demands on companies and the only way they can remain competitive is to mfg. in another country. I watched a video of an auto assembly plant in Brazil. Americans were touring it. They talked with the creator stating they would love to have an assembly plant like this one in the U.S. The creator stated so would we, but, the Unions won't allow it. Between the government and the unions we are being crushed and are reaching the point where we can no longer compete with other countries subsidized by their governments. The government as you stated can drive an economy, they can also cause it to collapse. You said you wanted more government. I'll give you the Dept of Education and Interior.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Other governments subsidize certain businesses which undermines our ability to compete. They also restrict companies to buy from internal suppliers. That's one of the items that Obama is trying to address in leveling international trade field.
I tend to disagree with you about unions causing jobs to go elsewhere since most of the companies in the high tech electronics business ie Apple, Microsoft, etc. which do their manufacturing overseas, are not unionized and of the 7% of US private sector workforce that is unionized many are in the service industries.
Less than 7% is an insignificant factor in sending jobs overseas!
More in the line of Corporate Greed and not pulling their fair share!

Simon, if you're really a Democrat - we have only philosophical differences with you.

BUT, - if you've gone over to 'The Dark Side', - if you've moved in with Reid, Pelosi, Hillary and the Obamas to one-world socialism, - that's a whole 'nuther matter.

While some still believe Obama is a Democrat, most liberals [like Niki Tsongas] are actually giddy and gleeful that they've managed to sneak a one-world socialist into the WH, to begin dismantling our nation and our society.

From my perspective -THANK GOD we have people willing to resist his every move!

Too bad Scott Brown wasn't one of them!

Too bad we now know more about Manti Te'o's secret imaginary girlfriend - than we do about Obama's birth, college records, or his law license...

George, Your thoughts on abortion make more sense than the goals that we have today. Todays goals are thoughtless and destructive. It boils down to when does life begin? In my opinion there is life if the fetus grows. Life ends when growth ends. There are only about 14 countries where abortion is allowed. Parents need to talk to their children before an unwanted pregnancy happens, not after. Most have never thought of the ramifications abortions can cause, they are to busy searching for a quick fix. Your stealing the pride tomorrow will bring with an abortion eliminating the evidence. There's also the possibility of watchful waiting the marriage will be a lot smoother. Abortion is not the answer it is the problem. It not only destroys the mother and father, It also cuts deeply into the hearts of grandparents, especially when their are so many better options available. when we make one mistake, don't fix it by making a second mistake.

Simon, I don't play God, I like the real God. I don't believe that I ever said or thought you or anyone else was a bad American because you don't think the way I do on all of the issues. I may have implied that your position is part of the problem Americans are facing. In fact I have stated hundreds of times that I believe most Americans are Conservatives. I don't agree with all Republican positions either. My passion is to help Democrats understand the otherside. They have been cdonvinced that Republicans and Conservatives eat their own. My point is to show them that we really don't differ very much on the issues we face, yet we vote entirely different. We MAY have different views on how best to help the people down on their luck. Democrats tend to want to be their Nanny's. Republican/Conservatives believe 1-3 jobs is a better option, especially the young. Welfare when carried to the extrreme is destroying families with Dad getting the boot because he cannot compete with the government. All I want is for people to ask questions and then question the answers. Democrats boast of how many people are benefitting from there social programs and Republican/Conservatives are happy when Americans no longer need them.

George Lewis, I can't believe any American would want our President to fail. Although we certainly hoped that his horrible policies would. We hoped that he would work with the people after all he had promised transparancy. We've seen the results of our inability to work with him and as a result we are in cow manure up to our chins. If anyone is happy with the Presidents economic accomplishments, appointments, transparancy, healthCareleaves me puzzled. I'm afraid that within six months, you will better understand the rocky road ahead. I will credit his Presidency with enabling the black population. They are doing much better and understanding and enjoying the support of the American people. Obama accomplished in less than four years what Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton spent more than two decades destroying enhancing their personal fortune.

George if the legislators vote against the President I may not have given them enough credit. I would have voted against the President as well. Voting on his policies have nothing to do with the man, they have to do with his policies. Most of his policies that were voted for had failed earlier several times. I'm sure Scott Brown voted for some of them. It makes no sense to vote for something that you know is doomed to fail or not in the best interest of the Country. The Country is so broke pork is no longer an option. Spending must end until we balance our budget. If anyone agrees with the spending habits on Capital Hill I would hate to look at their own budgets. Congress does the spending, but, the President plants the seeds.

People are back on track with their retirment plans.
A number of companies are moving manufacturing back to the US including GE, Apple, Catapiller (sp). He saved the auto industry and they are beginning to export cars.
Job numbers are on the rise -no thanks to the do-nothing House Speaker we have!

By the way
I'll ask again -What have the Republicans done to benefit this country and people in the past 50 years? All major programs from Space Program, the EPA to Americans for Disabilitis ,to Equal Pay, Obama Care etc have all been Democratic Programs

The stock market is being propped up by the FED - it is seriously over-valued now based on smoke and mirrors.
Companies are moving back some manufacturing because it is getting too expensive overseas not because of anything our BIG GOVT did. It will be temporary.
He didn't save the auto industry - he stole from the rightful bond-holders to payoff his union buddies - the taxpayers got screwed on that deal.

Catapiller announced their sales last qtr are down 25%...economy starting to suck as companies see no relief and begin to turn employees into part-timers - or lay them off.

Latest threat to stocks is the CFPB itching to get it's sticky government fingers on 401Ks - because the SS Trust Fund is bare, and they want 'to spread the wealth around'.

I step outside and everywhere I look I see the legacy of 60+ years of one-party politics in Massachusetts: - empty storefronts, - run-down crime-ridden neighborhoods where working people used to raise families, - empty mills, - empty factories, abandoned rail lines....

Everywhere I look I see the signs 'EBT Accepted Here'. Your 'Big Govt' has put some 47 million Americans on food stamps instead of on payrolls. That's called multi-generational destruction.

Hi Mike
In those 60 years we had 36 years of Republican Presidents and 24 of Democrats
Kennedy-Johnson gave us the space program and all the industrial spinoffs.
Nixon lead us into China! resigned in disgrace! Period of recession
Ford did nothing (wasn't even elected) and we had the oil embargo
Carter did nothing
Reagan was a disaster for business- Interest Rates highest ever- business loans running 20+%
Home loans 18%. Inflation rampent. Recession. Helped put Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Ladenin power. And raised the debt by 200%
Bush Sr - Time mag called him whimp- did nothing for business at home -more trade with China- Increased Debt another 50%
Clinton- boom in stock market, and jobs ,decreased welfare, left office with a surplus to pay down the debt which grew another 40%
Bush Jr - Another disaster- Wasted money on a war (Iraq) that we didn't need increased the debt by 100%.
Obama- debt increased 50%, ended wasteful wars, bringing jobs back, saved the auto and financial industries avoidind depression.

In summary - I saw more economic growth with democrats than republicans over the last 50 years. Prove me otherwise!

George the debt did increase under President Reagan, however, he ended the cold war and divided the Soviet Union, tore down the Berlin Wall after years of threats. Nice try George, Nixon announced plans for EPA and NOAA and gave it to Congress to create. Congress had to in those days because unlike to present occupant of the White House, Nixon didn't use executive order to circumvent Congress.

Nixon sent a special message to Congress in July 1970, 5 months before legislation was voted on. It was Nixon's idea to form the EPA and NOAA.

One that really stuck out was the one for debt- they quoted it for 2.5 years
Why not the full 8 years where it went up 200% ? So who is spinning?
How about the debt after Bush- another 100% increase $5Trillion to 10 trillion add in Bush Sr at 50% increase and you have a whopping 350% increase in the debt.
From my perspective the republicans are Fiscally Irresponsible.
Would you support someone that is spending your money and offering you less!
The democrats spend less and I get more programs. Explain that to me!!
Maybe you can answer the question I asked Don.
What have Republicans done in the last 50 years to benefit this country/people.
Have they done anything for the Handicaped?
Have they done anything to curb polution.
Have they done anything for Education
Have they done anything for equal pay for equal work.
What have they done for our veterans?
Have they done anything to bring wealth back to the country?

George,

It is obvious that you are a complex multi-level confused thinker but there was one sentence in your last rant that really stood out louder than the rest. "The democrats spend less and I get more". The key word being "I" and the important all telling tale "get more". If you re-read that, is there anything in there you find disturbing? I do. The first being your use of "I". Government should never be about an individual. It must be for the populous as a whole. When it becomes about individuals it breaks down in efficiency and becomes a burden on the whole. Instead of helping the whole, it hurts the whole. The second is your choice of "get more". You are basing your opinion of the effectiveness of government on what do the give me. Why should the government give you anything? I hope to think I have earned everything in life and you indicated that you just want to "get more". I think your position pretty much sums up why we currently have a DISASTER leading us in the Whitehouse.

I admire great men and respect political leaders who have earned it. When I was a young man and new voter, I cast a vote for the presidency to a man that truly earned my vote. That man was John Kennedy. On January 29,1961 he famously stated during his inauguration address "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". I was so moved by hearing those words and knew at the time it would be quoted by historians forever. You and our current President should be ashamed that you have tarnished the words of one of our greatest Presidents and true Democratic Party leaders. Unfortunately the current Democratic Party leadership has reversed those words and are creating a population that is addicted to Government. I do not believe that I need to be supported by government. I want government to be supported by me. There is a very clear difference.

Hi Simon, just for the record, I too support the death penalty for certain acts of extreme violence usually resulting in a painful death of anyone or the intentional death of a child. People such as Willy Horton or Charles Manson. Abortions are sactioned by the courts which offers abortionist protection at least for a while longer. People do not like to hear this and I regret that I have to say it but abortions have set the stage for euthenasia which will soon be stepped up by cutting back on treatment in order to reduce cost. Cancer victims after a certain age around 70 will be measured by their value to the sytem. The bottom line regarding capitol punishment is that in my opinion capitol punishment discourages heinous criminal acts in some cases. Regarding Mike he likes to have a little fun. You cannot do what we do day in and day out without a chuckle now and then. Mike served in Vietnam and served his country proudly and it continues in his civilian life. You cannot find anyone more loyal than Mike. Like he says he's old but is still good for spare parts. Check out his Web site The Rabid Republican. It's more fun to be his friend than his enemy. I've known him for a few years and he believes "Hold your ground soldier".

Don, I have no problem with you or anyone for that matter supporting the death penalty. Just don't say you believe all life is precious and must be protected. You cannot have it both ways. My point is beyond dispute.

As far as Mike perhaps he means well but it is lost in translation.

Simon, I don't know anyone who says "all live is precious and must be protected". What most say is all innocent life (ie fetuses) is precious and must be protected. They also say there is true evil in the world and those people must be destroyed before they do harm to innocents.

Don, again, I support your right to your opinion and I am not saying its wrong. I am saying it is inconsistent with point #3 that you posted. You have valid points on the slippery slope leading to euthanasia and whether or not capital punishment deters crime. For me, if one innocent prisoner is put to death, that is one too many. Incarceration works just fine IMO.

Part I. What are the Party differences? On the surface Democrats have done a better job convincing the voters that they are the Party of compassion. However, under the microscope the view is a little different. I am a Conservative Republican to the right of center. Years ago I toyed with the Democrat Party because of JFK, however ended up voting for Richard Milhouse Nixon. When we think of Democrats we think of welfare, unemployment, food stamps, and how much Democrats care about ensuring that everyone can vote without an I.D. If you take each policy and carry it to the next level you begin to wonder if what you always thought makes sense today. 1. Unemployment two years - When benefits were one year they seemed to find a job just before the benefits ran out, On the two year plan, what employer will higher anyone that has not worked for two years. The other problem is the pay and benefits are far better when the government is paying. Private industry can't compete. People used to work 2-3 jobs and slept well at night knowing they were doing their share. 2. When a friend or family member comes home and reports that they are on welfare, do you cheer or encourage them to search twice as hard for a job. It seems to be good for others but you not your family. Why? Because you know where the welfare path leads. 3. Food stamps, we know that a partime job would restore your pride opening opportunities. The program is abused by many.

Part II - 4. Disability SSI is no longer only available until you are healed. Disability payments are yours for life. 5. Benefits for illegals such as health care, enjoy their own Judicial sytem separate from ours. Ability to drive without a licence, No Problem, No insurance, No Problem. Working under the table No Probllem. In state tuition rates, No Problem, rent sibsidies No Problem.
It is nice for Americans to help people in need, but the secret is out and there is a rush to the cash- in window. Those that are healthy are stealing from those that are not. Americans are paying a large per cent of their income in taxes. They're hurting financially. The govcernment only has the money that we provide. Soon the pot will be empty where will you go when that happens? It is time for us to take charge of our own lives, not leave that responsibility to people that will abuse it. Who knows what is over the horizon? I suggest that we all think about that and start holding our leaders accountable. They throw away more money in D. C. than they spend. We are heading in the wrong direction and we must turn around. We have a choice. We can return our country to the greatness that we inherited or we can become a third world country. Conservative want to rescue the planet, because if we fail so will everyone else, on the other hand if we win so will they. Would you run your own budget the way Capitol Hill or Beacon Hill run theirs?

@ Simon Cowell:

Simon, your point is hardly beyond dispute! Don't be so arrogant - you're not really that brilliant.

Life is precious. But when an adult commits violent and heinous murder and torture - that person gives up any claim to anything 'precious' about his/her life.

People who murder people are murders. If the victims they are murdering are unborn babies, - they are STILL murderers. If we were doing it to animals, the ASPCA and PETA would be marching and filing lawsuits. Why are human babies less precious?

Calm down. My point is beyond dispute. If you believe all life is precious and must be protected, see #3 on Don's list, then you cannot be for the death penalty any more than you can be for abortion. Its not personal Mike, its logic.
If you would like to protect INNOCENT lives and think they are precious that is a separate discussion. Myself, I dont like to and try not to play God. Maybe you are different. You are comfortable judging who can live or die. I leave that to God. Tell me, are you okay with a capital punishment blunder where an innocent person is put to death? Sure it may be the minority but I am uncomfortable with even one innocent person being put to death by mistake. Aren't you?

Murderers are animals. Cage them forever, dont kill them. Still human life. Still beyond dispute.

I am neither arrogant nor brilliant, but I am sure I am right about this.

Simon, there are degees of hate that I consider require Capitol Punishment. Was the murder revenge? Was it a way of life? After he killed the person did he/she eat them. Was the killer halucinating from prescription drugs or illegal drugs. With the parole systems today we can no longe count on them to do the right thing. Certain people do not deserve to be on the streets again. I admit that I am no Michael Dukakis. Is rehab a possibility? A murderer would be luckey to have me on his jury, he would get a fair trial. Like they say God will judge him, I'm simply making sure he keeps his appointment.

Bob, Great question that one has always puzzled me. You've made my point how do you tell what is compassion from what is the right thing to do. Always take your thoughts to the next higher level. I wouldn't want abortion on my conscience, as adoctor or patient when there are so many better options available.

I could never have painted a starker picture of the emptiness of liberal hearts than what you have just done by equating 50,000,000 murdered babies to congressional seats.

Analogous to protecting endangered species!

In all seriousness, Mike/Don, how would you have provided, jobs, education, transportation, food etc. etc for the 50million people that woud have resulted if abortions were banned?
Did it ever occur to you that in God's wisdom in giving man the ability to perform safe abortions that it may be Her way of preventing more dire consequences later?

George, your assuming one (or 1,000) of those 50 million would not have been a Steve Jobs or a scientist that would have invented a new way to farm etc. Law of averages says there would have been several brilliant minds in that number.
The over population argument has been about for the last 80+ years since the dust bowl. We throw away and export enough food to feed the world. We have taken in 10's of millions of visitors and illegals and have had little problem until the recent recession. Even with companies shipping jobs over seas.

George, I am certain that you did not mean what you just wrote. It sounded like the 50 million abortions were good because we wouldn't have jobs for them any way. George what planet do you come from. Do you realze you are accusing God of killing his own children. You need to get some sleep and ask for forgiveness. Providing buses and education for 50 million. Abortions seems to be your answer toward solving all problems. You believe this nonsense yet you don't believe this country can do much better under proper leadership. Nancey Pelosi and her ilk believe that unemployment and health disability are as good as a job. They don't want you to be independent, they want to tuck you in every night controlling your entire life. Your thoughts qualify you for a high level position as a Obama Czar. Now you know why I proudly vote as I do. You couldn't have meant what you said.

Give me a break! God kills his or her children to famine, disease, natural disasters, war etc every day!
Lets be realistic! We can't find jobs for the people we have. We complain about the quality of education. You complain about the people on welfare. How on earth would you provide for 50 million more!
Bob said maybe one of them would be a Steve Jobs. To be realistic, Jobs was one of 350 Million. So for there to be another would be extremely slim, but you would have Another 1/2 Million Criminals to incarcerate!

George,

When we first started this thread, it was interesting to banter back and fourth with someone who had opposing views. When you were reading Latin from the back of a quarter or reciting the constitution, though I didn't agree with your interpretation , at least there was a side of reasonable person. However, you last post has you completely coming off the rails. Get some help please. You are obviously not a well person. That is from my compassionate side that you claim conservatives don't have. If you want to hear from my conservative tone....you are #%€£+¥ nuts.

Simon you present a good case for incarceration for life. Capitol punishment is the answer if I was on the jury. The evidence would have to be overwhelming commited by a repeat offender like Whitey Bulger. The Boston strangler would have a great deal to worry about if he was in my court house. Cases where I concluded that it would be inhumane to allow this person to walk as a free man. Would you have peformed capitol Punishment on Willey Horton the second time through the devils gate? The decision would be difficult but I wouldn't risk one life if the evidence was overwhelming. They appeal it several times bbbbbefore justice is served. The president did the right thing taking out Osama bin laden. Willey Horton deserved the same treatment. Circumstances, circumstances, circumstances = No Problem.

Simon you would probably have the support of the Clergy regarding Capitol Punishment. However, the Judicial system has lost the confidence of the people and therefore the jury wants to make the decision that will protect the innocent. Abortion, euthenasia and a judicial system that cannot be trusted to protect them so the jury acts without them. If it was a family member that was murdered our opinions would change. If the killer cried or showed remorse they would change their opinion. I don't think we know what we would do until we hear the case.

Hi George, Ann Coulter is a great entertainer but hardly capable of moving me in one direction or the other. I've heard rumblings of the incident you referred to but remain firm in my own position. Illegal Immigrants should enter through the front door like all other immigrants. Stand in line. I tried to help a few gain entry years ago when I could see that we had an open door policy. We need to place a limit on their credit card spending so they can't live better than the average American that has full time job paying taxes. Our immigrant policy or lack there of is so ridiculous today it should be abolished. No more free rides, no more dual Justice systems; no more free health care. no in state college fees. Unemployed Brazilians are returning home today since their Country has been addressing their unemployment problems. We need help but with 8% unemployed (really much higher) it's hardly the time to search the globe for workers. The front door people are checked for criminal activity and ensuring proper vaccinations. Short cuts are seldom the answer. Our government is having angina for over promising people in need, but this is not the time for open borders. We must first get our own house in order. Most of the countries they are fleeing from are doing much better, example we gave Brazil billions of dollars to pump off shore oil, that is nearly illegal here. Today most have jobs. We need to do here what we are showing other countries what to do for survival.
