I hate to be the bearer of bad news Marc, but Tewksbury doesn't have a town council just yet. ForRead Moren ow, we have a board of selectmen and a town manager. As far as catering to criminal immigrants, just listen to this interview and decide for yourselves if we want to become like Lynn: http://media.wrko.com/a/94466967/lynn-mayor-says-city-at-the-breaking-point-7-15-14.htm
Marc Tortorici July 17, 2014 at 04:04 PM
Thanks for the clarification Wayne. Do you know how an item is brought before the Board? Is it just Read Moredone at a Town meeting?
Wayne Knight July 18, 2014 at 07:37 AM
Marc, I suggest contacting any/all of the selectmenRead More(http://www.tewksbury-ma.gov/Pages/TewksburyMA_B Comm/BOS/index) first for guidance. If you get no satisfaction, speak at the next selectmen's meeting. They could implement a policy for a quick fix, and then either sponsor a warrant article for the upcoming October town meeting to codify the policy in our town bylaws, or at least advise you on how to do it.

Unfortunately, all activities have now been canceled due to the weather that is coming in withRead MoreTropi cal Storm Arthur. We'll be back with an incredible slate of activities for our Independence Day in Tewksbury in 2015. Kids play in Funway Park, correct. Kids are out of school during the summer, correct. Why does theRead Morew ork have to be scheduled for the middle of summer? I have seen complete remodels, and installations, of playgrounds in Medford and Somerville done during the beginning of spring or in the fall. Not during peak use time by the kids.
Tewksbury2001 July 07, 2014 at 07:24 AM
@Tony D- I think the reason is that the park is a safety issue and they needed to close it downRead Moreeith er way. There are some parts that are in tough shape and not safe.
TONY D July 07, 2014 at 09:51 AM
T2001 - If it is a safety issue it did not happen overnight. Wood does not rot overnight. I have aRead Morew ooden swing set that is 22 years old. Not a sign of rot. Being a safety issue is just an excuse for not scheduling the work while the kids were in school earlier this spring.

With the greediness of the offspring of the Demoulas Bros. any new market in town willRead Moreprosper....Th is may be the end of Market Basket.....Greed in the family is the first sign of the end of a great business....I guess their multi-million dollar salaries weren't enough....

Port987: I couldn't give a dam about who makes what money. I do worry about what I pay for myRead Moregroc eries and how nice the employees are to me. Like I have said before I enjoy going shopping there now and the prices are reasonable compared to other markets. I happen to know a few people that travel from Boston to shop at Market Basket because there isn't one where they live. I absolutely see the difference in the attitude of the Market Basket employees compared to let me say Stop & Shop. They go out of their way to help you in any way. I don't want to see Market Basket turn their employees to a very unhappy group of workers. Arthur T. DeMoulas did everything he could to compensate his employees, so if he made you said that he did, well he did spread it around.

I don't remember all the history of this but didn't Artie T get control after Artie S was scammingRead MoreA rtie T's family out of control or was it Artie S's father that was scamming. I thought a judge gave control back to Artie T's family for a reason but it was a long time ago and I don't remember the story.

I just drove by and the place isn't any closer to the road then most of the other buildings alongRead More38 . Though I do wish they had used the track of land just a little further down where the light is on Victor drive, because it looks like the driveway will now be on Route 38. Marcia, I've driven rt 38 many times after hours and I highly doubt there's speeding going on. Most of the times I'm stuck behind some person doing 25mph. Keep in mind that the speed limit on 38 jumps between 35 and 45 depending on where you are and most of the residential areas are in the 45mph zone. My guess is that those cars you think are speeding are likely just going the speed limit or maybe 5mph over at most.
Marcia A. Siara June 30, 2014 at 09:26 AM
Rob, I live at the light on Main and Victor and I have seen many cars and motorcycles come downRead Moregoin g at least 45 50 and going right thru the light after midnight.
Mary June 30, 2014 at 09:38 AM
Rob L, I so agree with you that that development would have been better suited for the propertyRead Morenear Victor Drive. It is too late for that now, unfortunately. I do think that the placement of the existing building would have look nicer, and would not have been so close to the road (corner of building) if the placement on the property would have been planned differently. Why did they put the building on its side instead of straight back and looking forward towards Route 38. This way no portion of the building would have been so close to the road??

Too bad they stop in town soccer after age 8. Seems crazy to have 3 or more teams traveling allRead Moreove r to play games.

This may not be the right spot for this but why no in town league's after U8? Why have 3, 4 or 5Read MoreTe wksbury teams traveling to play games instead of having 1 travel with the top players and have the rest play in town? Are other towns set up the same way as Tewksbury?
Bobby June 22, 2014 at 08:37 AM
Not enough players after u8 to run a league. It's a win win by doing it this way. Occasionally have Read Moreto travel outside of merrimac valley. Found it to be positive. Good at placing the teams at a competitive level.

I have two kids that applied to be part of the program. One was accepted and one was not. IRead Morereached out to John Lyons and inquired about the selection process. I received a very thoughtful and professional answer. Bottom line there were many more applicants than positions available. Simple as that. With regard to the program itself I've never heard my kids say they were bored and they always seemed to have fun. From what I've seen this is a well run program by people that care.
Marc June 27, 2014 at 01:04 PM
That's what John says to everyone Scooter. They use to do it based on numbers but this year, I did Read Morespeak to a hire up and they did all the hiring of CIT's based on a rating scale from the counselors. That is why your 2nd child did not get the job he or she was not rated well. As for the kids being bored, I never said they complained. Why would they when they sit in front of a television most of the day playing video games, or playing their electronic devises. I have spent more then enough time at these camps over the past 16 years with my children to know exactly what they do. My child has a mild disability which the lead director knew about for 3 years while he taught my child and counseled him at camp. To turn and say they were not chosen because the counselors rated them based on his concentration for is illegal when he knows and it is documented that is exactly what his disability is. So forgive me if I am a little ticked off that the long time Tewksbury people stick together and help their own. So lets see, Matts mom and dad works for the town well not sure about the dad anymore, his brother and shall we get into the other camps with with the different families of 3's. or shall I keep going..

I know the hydrant in front of my house was flushed out fairly recently....was it done across theRead Moreto wn? I'm sure that could add up quickly gallons wise.
TONY D June 10, 2014 at 02:45 PM
If all the commercial/industrial use totals only 126 million gallons, the report's figure, howRead Morecould the Town owned facilities consume close to 200 million gallons. Even if the Town does not pay for water/sewer use shouldn't it be metered anyway? At least the water could be "accounted for".

I find it amusing that someone would get "pissed off" that "junkies" won'tRead Moredispo se of their needles. Do you think they care about anyone but themselves. OK, I know the anger is directed at the total problem and not the incident of the day(s) and I know that some people will defend "Junkies" as poor misguided people who need help (this is, after all, Massachusetts the home of the uber liberals), but I think that it is the "NON junkies" (-US- the vast majority of people in this state) who deserve to be protected.
