Is it true the track is not the correct size to have meets? If so, is anything, being done aboutRead Moreit? What is the point in having a track if the school can't hold meets?
Jim Wentworth April 20, 2014 at 08:15 PM
Laurie, I just posted to another question about this as well. No, it's not true. The track has been Read Moredesigned and built to meet state requirements to host events.

Nobody likes tax hikes, nobody likes sewer rate increases that is what everyone can agree on. WhatRead MoreI bring your attention to is the lack of accountability and financial controls: Why is Tewksbury BIG dig went over budget? Why nobody is looking at reducing healthcare costs and lavish Pension Plans? Why can't we vote electronically so everyone can have a voice in governing our town? Why can't we follow Andover and Lowell Business development model and attract new businesses to town? Our BOS is doing good work but they need a push now and then to stand up to status Quo, question expenses, think outside the box and build partnership with unions to rain in OT and benefits expenses. We are all in this together, we all live in this fine town and we have vested interest in making it an affordable place to live. Residents should make more of an effort to participate in the governing of the town, elected officials should look for others ways to bring in new revenue and cut cost.
malcolm nichols April 12, 2014 at 08:14 AM
I'm not sure our towns pensions are fully funded. We need to start cutting back now.

Will the last family to flee Tewksbury please turn out the lights. There are two really sad partsRead Moret o this story. First: these decisions are being made by a bunch of arrogant blow-ins who were either not around or not involved during all the Selissen sewer fiasco meetings, presentations and votes. They are conveniently rewriting history to suit their own desires. Secondly: the $100 million (not including interest) Selissen sewer fiasco resulted in only 2,500 homes getting connected (remember that 4,000 homes already had sewer). This equates to a cost of $40,000 per home not including interest. It is no wonder why the blow-ins want the 35% un-connected to do the Obama and spread the wealth.

my3sm...The High School Building Committee just had a public meeting on April 3rd which would haveRead Moreb een a good opportunity to get your questions answered. If you go to the Tewksbury.net website, you can reach out to one of their members to get your questions answered. If you do, I'm sure all of us residents would appreciate what you find out.

Meeting or smoke and mirrors - anytime I've asked an elected official in this town a question -Read Moreneve r a straight answer - it's all smoke and mirrors - Let's see when we host our first track meet - soccer game - etc . waiting for the promised revenue ! Just like everything else in this town - can't wait for my new increased tax bill and my leveled sewer bill -
Jim Wentworth April 20, 2014 at 10:49 PM
my3sm...since you believe it's all smoke and mirrors, go find out for yourself. Ask your questionsRead Morea bout the track. Your fellow residents are volunteering their time as part of the High School Building Committee. Please report back what you find out.

They found her in NH? Some one has some splainin to do about taking a minor over a stateRead Moreline...... .....

@Jim, maybe I'm thinking wrong by thinking some of the disappointed people on here would care toRead Morehav e a meeting of this type? TM meetings he set up came and went but did not produce much attention which can only mean the majority like what they see at their elected and hired policy making positions while a few will never be satisfied.

Make Town meetings more Citizen friendly and maybe more people would participate. Maybe if some of Read Morethe officials would get down off of their high horses and stop trying to be better then everyone else, everybody would enjoy all of the meetings. When it comes to the speakers that are at the microphone, don't cut them off if it is something you don't agree with. (Town Moderator) Every citizen in this Town that is a taxpayer has a right to speak their peace. Paying taxes gives us this right. Of course if what they are saying has nothing to do with the subject at hand, yes, they can be told they are not speaking on the topic. I still think that Jerry Selisson can handle this job in a professional, eloquent manner. So please consider giving him your vote today, April 5, 2014, from 8 AM to 8 PM at your assigned polling place. Also consider Bruce Panalitis for Board of Selectman, and Vincent Fratalia for the Planning Board. Thanks in advance for your support of these candidates. Have a great voting day!!!
EMA April 05, 2014 at 07:35 AM
@Jim Wentworth, I think Rob's idea is a good one. Even an ASK A SELECTMAN blog here on the PatchRead Morewou ld be a start. I have to admit, I have many questions for the board and I'm sure my neighbors and fellow Tewksbury residents do also.
Donna Marie Robitaille March 31, 2014 at 10:27 AM
Mary That is a good idea. I am not sure the town clerk can get involved. I believe if you were toRead Morec all and ask her office -it will get done if possible. Otherwise, you will be directed to who could help you. It is a great question and seems likely that will be put up because of your idea.

Sorry I am just seeing this now. Where was the power out in town?
Tewksbury2001 March 27, 2014 at 08:12 PM
Yes. Wednesday from about 4-10pm. North Tewskbury. I think a tree took out some wires.
Melissa Gleaton March 24, 2014 at 12:57 PM
How can that be?? A regulation outdoor track is 400 meters. How short is it? (and, is it open to Read Morethe public? I'm a Tewksbury resident looking for a track to run).
Donna Marie Robitaille March 24, 2014 at 04:21 PM
I would think whatever is lacking should have been incorporated into the plans for the new highRead Morescho ol. Good point to ask about hosting meets and the need for a field house. Also, to Melissa-the track at TMHS always was for residents to use, hopefully that is still the case because it is your track too!
Bruce Panilaitis March 17, 2014 at 07:27 AM
Hi Matt, I will be posting them on the TBBL Blog today or tomorrow. Thanks.
