Jim Miceli, D-Wilmington, and GOP challenger Mario Marchese have agreed to meet in a debate on Oct. 21. While Marchese, also of Wilmington, has publicly expressed an interest in multiple debates, Miceli has chosen the strategy of campaigning on his long record of public service. A location for the Oct. 21 debate has yet to be selected, with the Tewksbury Senior Center and the Wilmington Middle School among the possibilities. GOP candidate Jamison Tomasek is starting to turn up the heat in his battle with Democratic state Rep. Barry Finegold for the State Senate seat from the Second Essex and Middlesex District. Over the weekend, Tomasek issued a press release calling on Finegold to answer ethics charges brought to light in a recent published report. Tomasek cited a report in the Eagle Tribune, alleging that Finegold had announcements read over the intercom system of Andover High School, recruiting high school interns for his campaign between Aug. 30 and Sept. 6.
