It’s been two years since track and field star Evan White left Tewksbury Memorial High School, but even though he didn’t go far, he’s travelled a long way when it comes to how far he’s progressed as an athlete. Earlier this spring, White’s recent performance at UMass Lowell earned him the opportunity to be named to the U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Association’s All-East Region Team, and later this month he will head to Stanislaus, California for the NCAA Division II Championships ranked second overall in the country among Division II 400 meter runners. After winning the National Championship this past weekend she was recently named a first team Divison 2 All American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. UMass Lowell senior field hockey star Sammy Macy leads the Riverhawks into the Division 2 NCAA tournament, looking to capture her first National Championship. The senior has been in the title game the past three seasons but come up short each time. The Riverhawks open the tournament Thursday at 1 p.m. in Louisville, KY where they will take on familiar foe Stoneill College in the regional semifinals. UMass Lowell field hockey star Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, MA) has been selected as a first team all NE-10 selection for the third consecutive season. Macy also earned all tournament team honors as she helped lead the Riverhawks back to the NCAA tournament this weekend. The Riverhawks defeated Stonheill 6-1 Saturday in the NE-10 championship game. Macy has set a school record for points in a season this year with 75 (30g, 15a) and is UMass Lowell's all-time leading scorer with 219 points (91g, 37a).
