Residents in one Tewksbury neighborhood got a bit soggy on Thursday (Dec. 29) after a water main ruptured. Several homes on Memorial Drive were without water for several hours following the break, which took place some time after 2 p.m. DPW crews were on the scene quickly and worked feverishly to repair the damaged and restore water flow. Much of Memorial Drive and several front yards were flooded. Resident Kelly Joyce submitted the attached video footage of the flooding in front of her home. On Monday, Dec. 26, at roughly 6 p.m., Tewksbury Police received a 911 call regarding a hit and run accident in the parking lot at the Extended Stay America hotel on Route 133. The caller told police that one vehicle had struck another and then left the area in the direction of the Hess Station. A short time later, the registered owner of the car that had left called Tewksbury Police to report the accident. She said she had not been driving the vehicle at the time of the accident but that her 21-year-old son and his 16-year-old girlfriend had been in the vehicle. An officer told the woman she…
A shoplifter with the skills of a running back managed to slip away from Home Depot security, Sunday evening. Around 6:30 p.m., Tewksbury Police received a call from loss prevention at Home Depot, reporting that they had tackled a man trying to steal a drill. However, the man managed to elude their grasp and ran out of the store. A short time later, a woman called 911 and reported that she saw the suspect running toward Motel 6. A sergeant then spoke to a witness who said they saw the suspect get into a green Stratus or Neon and flee the scene. The witness was unable to provide a license …
A Lawrence man is facing charges in connection with an accident on Wednesday (Dec. 14), in which a pedestrian was struck and injured. Details are limited, but according to Tewksbury Police, the accident took place just after 4 p.m. on Chandler Street, near the intersection of Route 38. Police were alerted by a 911 call that a man had been hit by a car. The victim, whose name was not released, was transported by ambulance to Saints Medical Center for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Two women reported being assaulted last week in separate incidents. The first incident came to light Thursday, around 5:30 p.m., when Tewksbury Hospital Campus Police called Dispatch and a patient at the hospital reported she had been raped the night before. The Campus Police officer said that they had reached the point in their investigation when a rape kit was needed. Det. Peter Regan was sent to the hospital with the rape kit and filed a report. A Stoneham man is facing numerous charges after allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a knife and then stealing her car. William C. Stella, III, 32, 294 West Wyoming Ave. Stoneham, was arrested Saturday (Dec. 10) around 2:30 a.m. at the Shell Station on the corner of Main and Chandler Streets. He is charged with assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, use of a motor vehicle without permission, intimidating a witness, wanton destruction of property with a value greater than $250, carrying a dangerous weapon and operating a motor vehicle after his license had been revoked. Two women face charges after their motor vehicle stop turned into a drug bust. Jennifer McGuire, 18, of 7 Glad Valley Drive, Billerica and Jamie Coulouris, 25, of 2 Boyle St., Wilmington, were arrested on Saturday, at around 11 p.m. The vehicle the women were travelling in was pulled over by Tewksbury Police, after a routine registration check came back that the registration had been revoked. During the subsequent investigation, it was discovered that the women had (unspecified) drugs in their possession. They were each charged with possession of Class A narcotics. One person was seriously injured Monday in a single-car accident near the Route 38 Cafe in South Tewksbury. According to scanner transmissions, the victim, identified only as a female, lost consciousness after her vehicle struck a tree. Tewksbury Police, Fire and Ambulance crews responded to the scene. Due to the nature of the injuries, a Saints Medical Center paramedic crew was also called to the scene. The victim was then transported to Saints for treatment. Her condition is not known. A Wilmington woman has been charged with drunk driving in connection with an accident that shut down a section of Main Street for several hours on Sunday. Victoria Anne Lacount, 32, of 6 Bond St., faces charges of OUI-liquor, marked lanes violations and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. The accident took place just before 1 a.m. on Sunday near the intersection of Hinkley Road and Main Street. UPDATED: Sunday, Nov. 27, 10:30 a.m. Two men will be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Monday after allegedly stealing money from a charity collection at Stadium Plaza on Friday (Nov. 25). Joseph Sperry, 23, 30 Sycamore St., Lowell, a former Tewksbury resident, was arrested by Lowell Police after being chased from the scene by two good samaritans. Kirk Proctor, 19, of Tewksbury, was later arrested by Tewksbury and Billerica Police in Billerica. When a Tewksbury Police officer pulled over Jeremy Gleaton early Saturday morning, it seemed like a simple license plate violation. What was found inside the car resulted in Gleaton's arrest. The officer pulled Gleaton over at the intersection of Livingston and Kendall just before 3 a.m. on Nov. 19. A glance inside the vehicle gave the officer cause to search the vehicle. During the course of the search, the officer found alcohol, marijuana and illegal fireworks. Gleaton was also found to be in carrying an unspecified weapon. A New Hampshire man is facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting an adult family member at a Mystic Avenue residence. Michael T. Granese, 60, 23 Emerson Drive, Fremont, NH, was arrested at the residence Friday (Nov. 18) morning and charged with assault and battery. Tewksbury Police had received a call from a woman who said she had just left the residence and that a man she identified as Granese had pushed her and grabbed her neck. Police encouraged the woman to come into Police Headquarters, which she did. After interviewing the woman, officers were sent to Mystic Avenue to arrest …
Some people say you can't trust statistics. Wednesday morning (Nov. 16), employees of some local businesses had a hard time trusting the people who gather the statistics. Just after 6 a.m., Tewksbury Police Dispatch received multiple calls from businesses around the intersection of Shawsheen Street and Main Street. The employees each reported a man, on foot, taking down license plate numbers on vehicles. A description was provided. Officers were dispatched to the scene and found that there were actually three men, all of whom worked for the corporate offices of Dunkin' Donuts. The men told …
A Tewksbury teenager is facing felony charges after allegedly attempting to stab a man in his home. Robert Goodell, 17, of 23 Goodell Ave., is charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The incident began Tuesday, Nov. 8, when a resident of 23 Goodell Ave. called Tewkbury Police and reported that their son was "out of control" and was attempting to assault another resident of the home with a knife. Two people were arrested in domestic assault incidents over the course of what was an otherwise quiet weekend for the Tewksbury Police Department. On Sunday, Nov. 6, around 8 p.m., police received a call from a Main St. address. According to the police log, there were four calls from that address in the span of two days. A pair of Tewksbury teens are facing multiple felony charges after allegedly forcing their way into a Catamount Road home an assaulting one of the residents with a hammer and a metal crowbar. Alex Smith, 18, of 91 Germano Drive, and Ray Tremlett, 18, of 3 Tomahawk Drive, were arrested Friday (Oct. 28) and charged with armed home invasion, kidnapping, assault & battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with intent to rob. A 49-year-old Burlington man was seriously injured, Thursday morning, when he fell from a roof, striking his head on the concrete pavement. The man, whose name was not released by Fire Department officials, was doing work on the roof at 95 Evergreen Road just before noon, when he fell approximately eight feet, according to the Police report. According to Fire Chief Hazel, the man sustained traumatic injuries to his head and legs. He was transported by ambulance to Lahey Clinic in Burlington, as LifeFlight was not flying at the time. A Tewksbury man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting an acquaintance over the weekend. Erik Nickerson, 28, of 101 McLaren Road, was arrested Sunday afternoon at his home. According to a Tewksbury Police report, the incident began around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 with a call from a Tewksbury resident. The woman said she had come home to find her daughter crying. According to the woman, the daughter said that Nickerson had assaulted her. Multiple units responded to the scene and one unit went to Nickerson at his home. Three people narrowly escaped injury early Saturday morning when the car they were riding in burst into flames along Route 495. State Police reported the incident, which took place around 4:45 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway, just past Exit 39. A 14-year-old faces multiple charges after allegedly setting off some type of explosive device in the skateboard park at the Saunders Recreation Complex on Livingston Street. The incident began just before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, when a caller reported seeing teens in the skateboard area. The witness was able to provide a positive identification, leading to the arrest.
