The following was submitted by the Council on Aging.  The Senior Center Yard Sale which was to be held this Saturday, August 20,  has been CANCELLED. Refunds will be given to the few people who signed up for a table. DJ Jon Mansfield will be back to the Senior Center next Monday, August 22, for an afternoon of dancing. Dr. Smith will conduct a Podiatry Clinic at the Senior Center on Thursday, August 25. This clinic will be limited to 30 Tewksbury senior citizens and is partially funded by the Council on Aging. Tickets for the Foxwood day trip of Tuesday, September 6th will go on sale next Monday at 8:15 AM. Valerie Fisher’s Girl Scout project “Senior Citizens Game Day” will be held next Monday, August 15th at 1:00 PM. Admission is free and a fun time is on the agenda.  There will be another Senior Center Yard Sale held on August 20th from 9 AM to 2 PM. Table space is available to the public at $15 per table or $25 for two tables. This Saturday, July 30th at 8 PM, the Friends of the Elderly will present its first ever “Comedy Night” at the Tewksbury Senior Center. The doors will open at 7:00 PM. The show headliner Comedian is Jimmy Dunn…also featured are Steve Bjork, Mike Prior and Steve Macone…four of the funniest nationally touring comedians working today. Valerie Fisher will be conducting her Girl Scout game evening with our Senior Citizens next Monday, July 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Why not come on down and join in this fun activity and have a few refreshments. One may sign-up at the front desk for this event. Next Wednesday, July, 20th, the Seniors will visit the Museum of Fine Arts to see the “Chihuly: Through the Looking Glass” exhibit of glass works. Tickets for the Mohegan Sun day trip of Monday, August 8 will go on sale Monday, July 11th beginning at 8:15 AM.  This year the Farmer’s Market (previously held at the Senior Center) will be held at the Town Hall Common every Thursday from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM. It is hoped that we will be able to increase participation by local farmers as the summer unveils.  A Giant Yard Sale will be held at the Tewksbury Senior Center this Saturday, June 25th, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Silver Tones Band will hold its monthly dance this Friday, June 17th, from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Tickets will be available at the door at $10.  Tickets for the July 7th Foxwood day trip went on sale this past Monday. To find out if there are any openings left, one may drop by the Tewksbury Senior Center or call 978-640-4480. A Senior Center Breakfast Benefit will be held this Sunday, June 5th from 7:30 to 11:00 AM. This will be the last breakfast before the crew breaks for summer months. Adult tickets are $6, children 12 and under $3 and toddlers are free. The menu includes: pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homefries, beans, toast and beverages. The public is welcome. The Town will be planting a “rain garden” at the Senior Center this Friday, May 27th.  Anyone wishing to help in this planting project should be at the Senior Center at 9:30 AM.  Those people helping with the Senior Citizen’s Parade Float should note that float decorating will take place on Friday, May 27th at Dennis Sheehan’s garage at 9:00 AM.  One may pick-up his/her shirts on Thursday, May 26th. The Historical Society will present the one-act-play “Schmoozing with Sophie” tonight (Thursday, May 19) at the Senior Center beginning at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door at $10 per person.  The Silver Tones will hold a dance at the Senior Center this Friday, May 20th from 7 to 10 PM. Tickets are also available at the door at $10 per person. Saturday, May 21st, will be Town Clean-Up Day. This Friday, May 6th, Older Americans Day, the COA will hold its Annual “Showcase of Creativity” Art Show at the Senior Center from 5:00 to 8:00 PM - another opportunity to see the wonderful art pieces created by our senior Artisans and their instructors. There will be various mediums displayed: paintings, wood carvings, embroidery, quilting, crafts, work in progress, demonstrations by our instructors and students and of course music and refreshments. The Tewksbury Health Department and Council on Aging will hold a “Health and Wellness Fair for the Whole Family” next Wednesday, May 4, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Tewksbury Senior Center, 175 Chandler St. There will be items of interest for the young and the not so young. Admission is Free. There will be many health agencies present as well as the Police and Fire Department and the Lions Eyemobile where one may have his/her eyes checked. The Special Act Charter Commission will hold a Public Hearing at the Senior Center in Hall A on Wednesday, April 27th. This meeting will begin at 1:00 PM. The public is welcomed.  A two-part Activities Meeting has been scheduled for Friday afternoon, April 29th. The first part of the meeting is scheduled for 1:30. Art show volunteers should attend at this time. The second portion of the meeting will cover the Senior Citizen Memorial Day Parade floats and will begin at 2:00 PM. A note of thanks is extended to all those who helped with the events at the Senior Center over the weekend.  The winner of the drawing at the breakfast was Peg Carter. An activities meeting will be held this Friday, April 15th at 10:00 AM.  At this meeting the main topic of discussion will be the Senior Citizen participation in the Memorial Day Parade. The Board of Health will conduct a Pneumonia vaccine clinic this Thursday, March 24th at the Senior Center, 175 Chandler St., from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. This clinic is for residents who are 65 or older and is free of charge. A Rabies Clinic will be held at the DPW, 999 Whipple Road on Saturday, March 26th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
