Lowell 33  Tewksbury 5th Grade Red 29 Tewksbury started out slow and Lowell took advantage to jump out to a 15-6 lead about mid-way through the first half. After a time out the boys picked up their defense, spearheaded by Kyle Rossetti, Chad Boschetti, CJ Zemetres, Riley Frost and Zach Tyler. After several close losses early in the year, they got their first win of the season Saturday, vs Windham (46 - 31). It was a total team effort. Tewksbury Girls 5th grade Travel team ended the 2011 calendar year with their second tournament championship in as many tries. This time they won the “Pelham Basketball Winter Slam 2011 Basketball Championship”. They remained undefeated on the season, while surviving their first test with a 28-27 heart-stopper in the tournament finale. Tewksbury 7th Grade Blue  Georgetown 43 -Tewksbury 7th Grade Blue 32 Tewksbury got off to a rough start in their game at Georgetown High School, as the quick Georgetown team converted loose balls into 4 layups to pull out to quick 9-1 lead. Tewksbury stepped up their defense, and the score closed to 11-8 half way thru the first half as big men David Stein (4 points) and Ameen Kalkhoran shut down the lane while Ryan Indigaro, Cory Indelicato and Josh Coward (6 points) were everywhere, causing Georgetown turn overs and converting them into points. Nashua 28   Tewksbury 4th Grade White 21   The Tewksbury 4th Grade White team dropped its regular season opener to Nashua 28-21.  The 4W team matched Nashua stride for stride and was able to generate plenty of offensive opportunities, but unfortunately the shots were not falling early.  Despite making several spirited runs, 4W was never able to completely recover from the early deficit.  Chris Antonelli was on fire scoring 13 points.  Tyler Keough …

Finalizing the regular season, the Tewksbury fourth grade travel team has showed steady improvements. The team’s progression has been amplified by a collective team effort in the offense and continuous improvement in coordinated defensive moves. Congratulations to coach Sal Monteneri and the 5th Grade Tewksbury Boys Basketball Travel Team for winning the Merrimack Valley Division Championship against Haverhill.  The team played a tough game against Haverhill but was able to pull together for the win.  The scoring was spread out amongst all of the players.  They did a tremendous job!  The final score was 46-37.

Tewksbury 6A – 27 Pelham 6A – 17 The Tewksbury Girls’ Basketball 6A travel team finished out their regular season on a high note, defeating Pelham, NH on the road by the score of 27-17. This victory avenges a home loss earlier in the season to this same Pelham team.  This was an outstanding defensive effort by the girls to hold this team to only 17 points.  Pelham has a star player that was held to only 12 points, leaving the rest of the roster to …

Tewksbury shined on Saturday, Jan. 29, showing their resilience and perseverance, pulling off a 24 to 20 win over Wilmington at Lowell Catholic. The team really came together with great passing throughout the game, highlighting their teamwork. Tewksbury 25 Chelmsford 24 The Tewksbury 5A travel team traveled to Chelmsford and pulled out a great road win with a one point victory. Isabelle Picher led the way with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Michaela Svendsen 6points 4 rebounds and Maggie Penta 6 points 2 steals 2 assists and Rachel Sessa with 2 points 9 rebounds. Jessica Cacciola added 1 pt, 2 assists 3 steals and set the tone defensively with lockdown defense on Chelmsford's tough point guard. Tewksbury 47, Haverhill 34 The Tewksbury Boys 6th Grade Red Travel basketball team, railed off its ninth straight win by defeating a tough Haverhill team this past Sunday in Merrimack Valley league action.  The victory improved the team’s overall record to 11 – 3, and put the team firmly into second place in the league’s Central division. Tewksbury Girls 5A Chelmsford 34, Tewksbury 17  The Tewksbury 5A travel team lost 34-17 to a very tough Chelmsford team. The game was back in forth the entire first half and Tewksbury trailed 15-14 at halftime.
