About this column:
Each Saturday, Then and Now will take a look back into Tewksbury's past, courtesy of photos supplied by the Tewksbury Historical Society. On Sunday, we will show both the old photo and the same location in 2010, to provide a glimpse at how the community has (or in some cases hasn't) changed through the years. The historic property at 464 Main St. has had many roles over the years. The 18th century building was once the Hardy Homestead. For a time it was the Rosewood Restaurant. Today, it is owned by the Ginsburg family and will soon open as A Novel Cafe.
This photo, provided by the Tewksbury Historical Society, depicts a building that has undergone many changes through the years. Do you recognize it? The answer on Sunday.
It didn't take long for several readers to identify our "Then and Now" photo as the early stages of what today is the Roper Estates Condominiums on Pleasant Street. The complex is located across the street from the old Center School, which ios now home to the Tewksbury School District Administrative offices. Congratulations to Bill Weiss, M. Grant, Karyn and Sarah for their keen knowledge of Tewksbury history! The next "Then and Now" photo will appear on Saturday, Oct. 23.
