UPDATE: Project Manager Carlos Jaquez reports that the project is presently scheduled to continue through March 2013. East Street water main replacement work will begin on or about Monday, September 24, 2012. The Town has hired JJ Phelan to perform this work. Construction hours will be from 7:00 AM to approximately 7:00 PM Monday through Friday except holidays. The crews will attempt to shut down earlier when possible. Traffic on in the northbound lane of Route 495 remains backed up for miles in the wake of a crash involving three tractor-trailers in Tewksbury. The accident took place just after 6:30 a.m. between the exits for Route 38 and Route 133. No injuries have been reported, according to a report on NECN.com. The crash created a huge mess, as empty paint cans and rice was strewn all over the highway, according to a report by WCVB-Ch. 5. A section of Main Street from Colonial Drive to Hinkley Road remains closed as the result of a motor vehicle accident. According to Tewksbury Police, the accident took place just after midnight near the interction of Colonial and Main. A vehicle struck a utility pole, bringing the pole down into the road. DPW and National Grid crews are on scene and the road is expected to be reopened by noon. Additional details on the accident itself were not immediately available.

The hours of operation will be limited to 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This work is expected to be completed within two weeks. The proposed detour route shall utilize Old Boston Road, Archstone Drive and Main Street/Route 38.
According to a press release issued by the department of Public Works, a section of East Street between Karen Lee Lane and Royal Crest Circle will be open to just one lane of alternating traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting on Tuesday. The work is needed to repair a damaged culvert on this area. There will be significant delays while the work is in progress.
