"View Finder" is a weekly image gallery featuring the faces and places of Tewksbury.On Thursday, the Trahan Parent Advisory Council (PAC) sponspored the 2nd Annual Summer Playground Social. This provided an opportunity for upcoming 3rd and 4th grade children to see their friends, make new friends and for parents to network with other parents. Coaches Mike Woodford and John Garofalo ran the Wamecit team through drills on the Livingston Fields Tuesday. It was the team's first practice in full gear and the first practice with hitting drills. Take a sneak peek at this season of youth football.

There was a huge Summer Reading Party on Friday for anyone signed up for the library's Summer Reading Club. Kids participating in the reading program came to get their faces painted, jump in a bouncy house, and play on a giant slide. They also received their certificates and prizes for their book reading over school vacation.

Associate Pastor Steve York and the congregation of the Assembly of God Church held a Yard Sale, Car Wash and BBQ on Saturday, taking advantage of the great weather. The fundraiser was for the youth group for a trip this summer to Six Flags. Many motivated workers were on hand and started the day off washing a Humvee from the National Guard Recruitement Office which was on display for the day.
The Tewksbury's Summer Day Camp program held a field day recently featuring counselors decked out in Hawaiian shirts and outfits. The fun was compounded by tons of water: water balloons, squirt guns, hoses, sprinlers, you name it. The field day wrapped up with a huge limbo contest. Alec DiFuscia and his friends raised over $1351.82 for the Jimmy Fund of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute last weekend by holding a 32-hour whiffle ball marathon. They played in an impressive Fenway Park styled whiffle ball stadium they built in their back yard. Check out some photos from the event.

Heat wave got you down? How about a little Christmas in July to cool you down? Youngsters participating in one of the summer camp programs, overseen by the Tewksbury School Department Community Services office, celebrated Christmas earlier this week in the Youth Center building at the Saunders Recreation Complex on Livingston Street. Photographer Maggie Judd was there to capture these images.
Fire Chief Richard Mackey, recently retired after 32 years as a member of the Tewksbury Fire Department, was honored last weekend with a retirement party at the Tewksbury Country Club. The event was attended by more than 100 friends, family and co-workers. Editor Bill Gilman was in attendance and captured these images.
The play seemed simple enough, as the catcher for Billerica National tried to pick Chad Oliveira of Tewksbury National off first base in the first inning of their District 14 12-year-old Tournament game. About 10 seconds later, fans at Poulin Field were buzzing about one of the best baserunning plays they had ever seen. The throw was wild and wound up rolling all the way to the right field fence. Students in the 5th and 6th grades at the Ryan School may not be ready to enter the working world quite yet. But earlier this month they were given a taste of what life will be like beyond the classroom at Career Day. Men and women, representing a wide array of careers, spoke to students about their careers and engaged in lively Q and A sessions. A blood drive organized by Mark Cashell was held Thursday at the Tewksbury Country Club for the Jimmy Fund Clinic and Children's Hospital. The drive was a huge success, with seventy-eight people participating in the drive and fifty seven pints of blood collected. The drive was held in honor of Lyndsey Pettengill and Cashell's daughter Ashley Cashell, both students at the Heath Brook Elementary School. The blood will help children like Ashley and Lyndsey who benefit from blood tranfusions at the Jimmy Fund Clinic and Children's Hospital. The amount of blood collected at the drive should be …
For some residents of Bayberry at Emerald Court, an assisted living community, being part of a fashion show is something fun and new to do. Still for others, it's a time machine that transports them to earlier years in life. "It's fun. I've modeled for different things quite a few years back," said Janie Bradford, who was a dancer and used to go ballroom dancing at tleast three times a week. On Sunday, Bradford was one of four members of the community that volunteered to dress up in this summer's newest fashion to model for audience members what's in style. "I've done things like that …

Young students at the Center School were in awe when mounted troopers from the State Police visited last week with two of their horses.
