Busy Memorial Day Ahead in Tewksbury With 5k Race, Parade Set for Monday

A variety of activities will take place on Monday in Tewksbury in honor of Memorial Day.

Memorial Day will be a busy one in Tewksbury, with a host of events scheduled throughout Monday in town.

The day kicks off with the 5k Fun Run at Tewksbury Country Club, and event that will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

Registration is closed for the event, which kicks off with check-in at 7 a.m. before the runners take off at 8 a.m. on the golf course.

At 11:30 a.m. the town will host a salute to all members of the United States armed forces who have been lost at sea. That event will take place at the Knights of Columbus, located at 2068 Main Street.

Later in the day, a Memorial Day service will take place at Tewksbury Cemetery, located at 172 East Street. The services will begin at 12:45 p.m.

A wide variety of local organizations, town officials, police and firefighters, and members of the armed forces will participate in the parade.

The final event scheduled for Monday is the highlight for many residents. The Memorial Day parade takes off at 2 p.m., starting at Tewksbury Town Common and ending at the parking lot to the left of Jon Ryan's Pub.

Due to the parade, Main Street will be closed from 12:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. along the parade route.
