The Swinging Senior Chorus has graciously offered to conduct another Christmas Concert at the Senior Center on Monday, Dec. 23 at 1 p.m.  Why not come on down and start the Christmas week off with the musical spirit of the season.  This is a free event and refreshments will be served.

The Senior Center will be closing at noon on Dec. 24 and will be closed on Christmas Day.  On behalf of the Council on Aging and its staff, a Joyous and Merry Christmas is wished to all those celebrating.  May the peace of the season stay with everyone throughout the new year.

The Men's Group will meet on Thursday, Dec. 26 at 9 a.m.

Tickets are available for the Friends New Year's Eve Dinner Dance of Tuesday, Dec. 31. The cost is $50 and includes dinner at 7 p.m.; New Year's novelty hats, horns, etc. and dancing to the sounds of the Perfect Match Band.  If planning to attend, please note that one should purchase his/her ticket/s by noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Dr. Smith will conduct a Podiatry Clinic at the Senior Center on Saturday, Jan. 18.  Registrations are now being accepted.  The fee for the clinic is $15.  This clinic is limited to 35 Tewksbury Senior Citizens.  This clinic is funded in part by the Council on Aging.

The next Foxwoods day trip is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 8.  The cost of this trip is $30 per person and includes motor coach transportation, a casino package and driver gratuity.  Sign-ups began this past Monday.  Space is still available.

The Council on Aging is now assisting Tewksbury Senior Citizen residents with Fuel Assistance applications.  Seniors may call Jan or Linda at 978-640-4482 to arrange an appointment and find out what information one needs to bring with them when applying.   Some of the household income eligibility guidelines for fuel assistance are as follows:  1 person $32,065;   2 people $41,932;  3 people $51,798;   4 people $61,664.  Information on larger families and the eligible incomes is posted at the Senior Center and is also available from CTI.  Younger families may call Community Teamwork (CTI) at 978-459-6161 for information on how and where to apply.

The COA will begin taking names of those Senior Citizens who wish to have our AARP Volunteers assist them with tax returns.  However, one should take note that appointments will not be scheduled until mid to late February due to the “government shutdown” this past fall.

Merry Christmas.   God Bless America.
