Again, we remind Tewksbury Senior Citizens that help with Fuel Assistance applications are done at the Senior Center. To obtain information on the fuel assistance program and/or to schedule an appointment call 978-640-4482. The eligibility guidelines are: one person household up to $31,218; two family household up to $40,824; family of three $50,515; and, family of four $60,035. There are further guidelines for larger families. Younger families may call the Billerica Veteran's Agent at 978-671-0968 or Community Teamwork at 978-459-6161 for information and assistance. Every little bit helps these days so don't hesitate to apply if you qualify.

Our AARP Tax Assistance Volunteers will be back again this February to assist Seniors with their tax returns. We will begin to accept names right after the New Years. However, as noted, the volunteers will not begin until February. The normal routine is that one signs up at the Senior Center, the volunteers give us dates that they are available and the Director or the COA Secretary will call people to set up appointments. The office then sends out a confirmation of your appointment and a listing of what documentation you need to bring with you. Just recently one of our Senior Citizens got a call about scheduling a March appointment. The Senior was unclear as to who was calling and said that he would have to check with his wife. Please note that this is not the procedure we follow and be cautious of such phone calls and scams. Do NOT give important information out to anyone you are unsure of. The COA will be setting up appointments around mid January and we will identify ourselves. AARP or our Vounteer assistants do NOT make calls. Beware of anyone other than the COA employees trying to set up appointments or obtain information from you.

Have a great week. God Bless America.
