The Public Health Museum in Tewksbury sponsored a three-day educational program entitled “Outbreak! A Public Health Experience.” It was offered free to high school students from the greater Merrimack Valley.

The program utilized a variety of activities from lectures to participatory case studies, guided by experts in the field.

The many volunteer presenters—all experienced in public health—were drawn from collaborating organizations that included the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Lowell Health Department, the Cohassett Board of Health, Massachusetts Association of Public Health Nurses, and Occupational Health Connections.

The Museum plans to offer this program again in the summer of 2014 and other activities throughout the year to engage high school students in exploring the field of public health.
