UPDATE: Tewksbury Town Offices Close at Noon

The storm will make for dangerous driving possibly in the morning and evening commutes.

Updated Thursday at 11:50 a.m.: The town announced on its website that Tewksbury town offices will close as 12 p.m. due to the inclement weather.

Updated Thursday at 10 a.m.: Tewksbury Public Library will be closed on Thursday due to the storm that has begun in town.

The library will re-open on Friday and will have its regular hours of 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Original Story: The snowstorm headed toward New England will likely make travel treacherous on Thursday, with snow falling in the morning and possible freezing rain hitting the roads by the evening commute.

The National Weather Service is predicting 5-9 inches of snow for Tewksbury falling by sunset.

Snow should begin Thursday morning and change over to sleet and freezing rain on Thursday afternoon and evening. Winds will be 17 to 21 mph with gusts up to 32 mph so power outages are possible.

After nightfall, snow and sleet accumulations could reach one or two inches. Rain, freezing rain, and sleet are predicted to hit Tewksbury until around 3 a.m.
