Workers at Market Basket supermarkets have set a deadline of Thursday afternoon for former CEO Arthur T. (Artie T.) DeMoulas to be reinstated.

Arthur T. DeMoulas was fired last month after a board vote.

Market Basket has headquarters in Tewksbury, Mass. with 71 stores in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.

A deadline of 4:30 p.m. on Thursday was set by workers and middle managers to have Arthur T. DeMoulas reinstated as president and CEO, according to a report by Supermarket News. It was not clear what the workers planned to do if Arthur T. was not reinstated.

In a memo to new co-CEOs Felicia Thornton and Jim Gooch posted on Supermarket News, Market Basket workers said they wanted Arthur T. back “with full authority” and workers said “we will not work for anyone but [Arthur T. DeMoulas].”

Thornton and Gooch told Supermarket News that they don’t have authority to reinstate Arthur T. DeMoulas.

Just before 10 a.m., “all is quiet” at Market Basket headquarters, according to the Save Market Basket Facebook page.

How sad that a "family" can fight like this over what seems to be just "a money/power issue. I hope it gets resolved really soon.

We won't be shopping there until the RIGHT decision is made

What a dissapointment. We drove 20 miles to find that half of what we went for was not available. Won'tbe back anytime soon if ever. A company is made up of seasoned managers and when you loose them the company soon follows. A very dissapointed customer.
