Aubuchon's Gone: What Should Go In Its Place?

Chelmsford's Aubuchon Hardware closed last week. Today we're asking you what should take its place.

The Aubuchon Hardware down on Summer Street closed last week, as indicated by the sign on the door we've attached here.

So today we want to ask you, what do you think should go into that space? Another hardware store? Would that plaza be able to support another restaurant? Would it be retail or something more office related?

Tell us what you think in the Comments section.

Well Donna, I do have to say they have been holding out on us for quite some time and I thought the owners of Summer Place were going to keep us updated. I guess that was not the truth. But thankfully I can tell you one of the shops that are going in there is: "My Body Solid" Here is the Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Body-Solid/546797565360784 I am assuming it will be a Personal Training Style Gym maybe more... I found it announced here on the ITS Personal Training Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/ITS-Personal-Training/214791981901824 Now can anybody else tell us what is going in next to this or the plans for the 3 other fronts?

I am disappointed, to say the least!! Do we really need another fitness joint here in Chelmsford? Or another yogi-gogi place? I don't think so at all. I can only hold onto my hope for more inventive tenants who will give us something new and wonderful and not repeat what's happened in many of the vacated spots in town. I do not wish harm or misfortune to "My Body Solid", but there is strong competition hereabouts methinks. Come on, Summer Street ... keep to your words to keep us informed and consider our thoughts ... you've had plenty of our wishes to consider, so how 'bout you consider them?

Thank you for keeping this going. I apologize for the delay, the e-mails that new comments on this thread never came through. The diversity of the tenants at the center make it difficult to find new tenants that are not direct competition to the other users in the center. With that being said, we were able to find one of the suggested uses, "Chelmsford Diner" Which will be a breakfast operation. We appreciate the feedback, and are continually searching for other synergies for the center.

Yea ... you listened! at least one of our ideas got your attention! I just am not thrilled with your other new tenants, sorry, my hopes were for something more inventive and easier for those of us who like to shop close to home rather than to battle the horrendous traffic to get to a grocery store. But I'm happy for you that you were at least able to bring in business, that's really important. Hope all goes well. Got any space anywhere for my Italian grocery?????

Keep in mind, it is not that we didn't want the users that you all suggested, we needed to try and find someone willing to open that type of operation as well. I think the leasing team for Summer Street Crossing deserves a pat on the back for the excellent job they did releasing the vacant space is the short amount of time they did. To lease up 6400 square feet in only a few months time is quite the feat. If you know of an Italian grocery looking to lease space here, please let me know!
