Proposed Merrimack Valley Casino Would Include Dine-In Movie Theatre

The dine-in movie theatre is the second amenity announced to the proposed Merrimack Valley Casino at 300 Ames Pond Drive.

Ahead of a Monday Planning Board public hearing on the proposed Merrimack Valley Casino at 300 Ames Pond Drive, Penn National Gaming has released additional details as to what amenities could be included at the proposed slots-only casino.

A dine-in movie theatre, including two screens with approximately 320 total seats, would be included at the proposed slots-only casino.

Patrons would be able to order from a full menu while at the theatre, and have food delivered to their seat while they watch a movie.

“We are excited to announce the inclusion of a two-screen movie theater to the offerings at our proposed Merrimack Valley Casino,” said Jeff Morris, Director of Public Affairs at Penn National Gaming in a statement.

"We believe an upscale dine-in movie experience will be popular with both casino guests and those looking for a unique movie experience.”

The announcement came hours before a Planning Board public hearing on the proposed zoning bylaw amendments that would accommodate a slots-only facility at 300 Ames Pond Drive.

Residents will vote on the proposed zoning bylaw amendment at a Aug. 20 special Town Meeting where they will require a two-thirds majority to pass.

Should the proposed amendments pass at special Town Meeting, a townwide referendum would be held on Sept. 21.
