North Street School Students Raise Funds for Japan
Fundraising efforts collect nearly $2,400 for victims of earthquake and tsunami.
"Whiz Kids" is a weekly column featuring individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even teams, who wow us with their accomplishments. This week, we feature the third and fourth grade students of the North Street School, who showed generosity of heart and money in helping the disaster victims in Japan.

Accomplishment: The third and fourth grade students raised $2,394.52 for the victims of the tsunami and earthquake in Japan. The money was given to the American Red Cross. The students wore red and white (the colors of the Japanese flag) to call attention to their efforts and gathered donations from family and friends. Along the way, the students also learned a great deal about the country of Japan, their culture and the power of nature.

Keys to Awesomeness: The students at the North Street School showed compassion for people half a world away. They also showed tremendous teamwork and unity for a common cause.
