Let us know what's your favorite special.

TV sets across the country will be tuned to ABC at 8 p.m. tonight.

“A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which millions of Americans watch every year, is airing tonight. For some, the Christmas season kicks off at Thanksgiving, but for many people the opening skating scene to “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is the true kickoff that Christmas is here.

With the annual showing of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in mind, we want to know. What is your favorite Christmas special? Is it Charlie Brown or is your favorite Rudolph? Do you love the Heat Miser? Does Frosty make you cry every year?

Take part in our poll in let us know. If we don’t have your favorite listed, let us know about your choice in the comments section.

If you’re looking to see when some of these classics are running this year, TV Guide has a calendar.

"It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart. Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings!

Favorite Christmas special - "A Charlie Brown Christmas" - none of the others listed even come close, for me. Like many others mentioned, we also like "A Christmas Story," but I'd count that as a "movie" rather than a "special."

1. Christmas Story - "Look Fragile. It must be from Italy"! 2. Christmas Carol with Albert Finney - Musical version. 3. Miracle on 34th Street - Natalie Wood

Jim's right. This poll is about Christmas specials. Next week, we will have a separate poll about Christmas movies! Keep voting and let us know what you think is the best Christmas special!

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" is the best. The opening skating scene, the dance scene, the Christmas tree, Linus' monologue. Great stuff!
Michael P Reilly December 05, 2011 at 08:52 PM
1. A Charlies Brown Christmas 2. It's a Wonderful Life 3. White Christmas, with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney

Ok whose idea was it to include the Heat Miser one and not include "A Christmas Story?" Anyway my favorite is A Christmas Story. "Ralphyyyyyyyy!" And for old movies, I like Miracle on 34th Street (the original, not the mediocre 1990s remake).

Oh Christmas Special but not movies? Ahhh that makes more sense. Ok I don't like any of these. Carry on. :)

A Christmas Story and It's a Wonderful Life are the great Christmas films ever made in my opinion. ("Merry Christmas you wonderful old building and loan!")

I liked the Peanuts special where they went to the Space Station that time. For some reason, it feels like they did released that one near Christmas a few years after the Christmas special.

The 1 938 version of A Christmas Carol. Also Silent Night Lonely Night ( a wonderful story that takes place in New England. Snow Globe is a cute and funny story too.

I loved the Little Drummer Boy but is has no been on forever it seems. Also, who could resist Charlie as in Brown, and Rudolph always brings a lump in my throat. I am like a kid ... love them all and will never tire of any of them, look forward to seeing them each year.

Really, Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol is my fav.

Miracle on 34th Street with Natale Wood

Great movie!

However did I forget to mention this one ... yes, it really is MY all time favorite, but even that is not seen anymore to my knowledge. Am I missing something? Are these shown and I'm not tuning in? Used to be a time when the newspapers listed the dates and times of all the shows but I have not seen this ... am I missing this too?
Maria December 06, 2011 at 02:49 PM
I love that one also,
Michael J Bourgault December 06, 2011 at 05:53 PM
There are so many, but the one I enjoyed that you don't see that often was "John Denver & The Muppets Christmas Special". Any Christmas program with the muppets I love!
Don Barker December 06, 2011 at 06:30 PM
Any of the film versions of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", but I am very fond of George C. Scott's performance.
Ron Powell December 06, 2011 at 07:40 PM
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas," as narrated by Boris Karloff, with original compositions by Albert Hague and vocals by Thurl "Tony the Tiger" Ravenscroft. It's grrrrrrrrreat!
Denis December 07, 2011 at 12:46 AM
Christmas Carol with Reginald Owen.
Maria December 07, 2011 at 01:07 AM
Christmas Carol was on TCM last night. It was the original movie with Reginald Owen. Great classic.

I am shocked (har) that no one included the Mister magoo version of a Christmas Carol. I watched that as a kid and actually own it now.
Maureen Castiglione December 08, 2011 at 03:48 AM
#2 is "Scrooge" - one of the most overlooked and under-rated Christmas movies. Too many great songs to list, but my favorite has to be "Thank you Very Much" followed by "Father Christmas."
Maureen Castiglione December 08, 2011 at 03:52 AM
Cannot *believe* that Emmett Otter is so low in the survey. Seriously one of the best Muppet specials ever made. This was done as an HBO Special back when Henson first teamed with them in the early 80's (Fraggle Rock era), and is an absolute *must* have for any Muppet fan.
Ray Desroches December 08, 2011 at 12:00 PM
With Razzleberry dressing!
Gizmo December 08, 2011 at 01:44 PM
How about "It's a Wonderful Life"?
Gizmo December 08, 2011 at 01:48 PM
Nice list you have there. My fav is #2. Maybe because my name is George?-lol
April Campbell December 17, 2011 at 03:34 PM
Elf! that movie always makes me happy. My family loves A Christmas Story the most. Emmett Otter is of course a family classic.
