Next Tuesday, January 22nd, Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley will conduct Free Memory Screenings from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This event is free and the results of the screenings are immediately shared with you. The 15 minute screenings are conducted by ESMV. Space is limited and appointments are assigned on a first come-first serve basis. Memory screening is a simple and safe evaluation tool that checks memory and other thinking skills. It's a tool we may all benefit from. For an appointment call Jan or Linda at 978-640-4482.

As noted last week, we are looking for those special Tewksbury couples that have been married 50 years or more and never recognized by the Council on Aging and Friends of the Elderly. If you are such a couple or know of a couple married 50 years or more, please submit their name and telephone number to our Secretary Jan or to Linda by calling the Center at 978-640-4482. There are two trips posted on the Senior Center bulletin board with interest lists attached. One is to travel to Boston to watch Ballroom Dancing competitions for the afternoon on February 16 or 17. The cost would be around $18. The second interest list is for Sunday, March 17th for the afternoon performance of the Young@Heart singing group...a Senior Citizen group that has travel around the world performing. This last trip is estimated to be around $40 and is held in Worceter, MA. If interested, please place your name on the list keeping in mind that the earlier tickets are purchased from the venue, the better the seats.

Several meetings have been scheduled for the Friday, January 25th. Senior Center volunteers should note the following times: An Activities Meeting at 10:00 AM; A Snooti Patooti Gift Shop meeting at 1:00 PM; and, A Receptionist Meeting at 2:30 PM. The eligibility guidelines are: one person household up to $31,218; two family household up to $40,824; family of three $50,515; and, family of four $60,035. There are further guidelines for larger families. Younger families may call the Billerica Veteran's Agent at 978-671-0968 or Community Teamwork at 978-459-6161 for information and assistance. Every little bit helps these days so don't hesitate to apply if you qualify.

Our AARP Tax Assistance Volunteers will be back again this February to assist Seniors with their tax returns. We will begin to accept names right after the New Years. However, as noted, the volunteers will not begin until February. The normal routine is that one signs up at the Senior Center, the volunteers give us dates that they are available and the Director or the COA Secretary will call people to set up appointments. The office then sends out a confirmation of your appointment and a listing of what documentation you need to bring with you.

Have a great week. God Bless America.
