CommonCore Info Session

***FYI - COMMON CORE EVENT IN TEWKSBURY***

In response to the occasionally heated debate concerning the implementation
of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in our schools in Tewksbury, the
Merrimack Valley and across the country, the Tewksbury Republican Town
Committee is hosting an informational forum to discuss various aspects of the
CCSS. Please join us to learn what these standards mean for you as a parent,
student, teacher and/or taxpayer.

The featured speakers are:
Mr. Jamie Gass, Director of the Center for School Reform at the Pioneer
Institute; and
Dr. Sandra Stotsky, Professor Emerita at the University of Arkansas, and a
member of the CCSS validation committee.

Topics to be addressed at this forum include, but not limited to:
Background and origins of the Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI)
Comparison of the quality of the CCSS with the old Massachusetts standards
Data gathering and use
Impact of CCSS on education in terms of cost, curriculum, and local and
parental control

After opening statements by the speakers, there will be an audience Q & A
session.

This is a free public forum. So, please join us Saturday, January 18, 2014
from 1 to 3pm (Doors open at 12:30pm) at the Tewksbury Country Club located
at 1880 Main Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876; Main Telephone number 978-640-0033.
