Tewksbury Country Club to Honor 200 Veterans With Veterans Day Ceremony

Tewksbury Country Club owner Marc Ginsberg will hold a Veterans Day celebration honoring all Tewksbury veterans of the United States Military on Monday, Nov. 11

Guests include Father Patrick Healy, OMI who is a veteran himself, U.S. Representative John F. Tierney, State Senator Barry Finegold, Representatives James Miceli and James Lyons as well as the entire Tewksbury Board of Selectmen.

The Colors of the United States will be presented by the Tewksbury Police Department and Tewksbury Fire Department. Maddy Burgoyne of Tewksbury Memorial High School will sing the National Anthem.

Guest Speaker will be Lt. Col. Arthur Elbthal of the U.S. Army.  

Elbthal, originally from New York City, enlisted in the Army National Guard at age 19 as an artillery cannoneer. He later completed the Officer Candidate School program, was commissioned as a Lieutenant and assigned as an Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader.

Subsequent duty assignments include: Infantry Reconnaissance Platoon Leader, Infantry Rifle Company Commander, Infantry Brigade Combat Team Operations Officer, Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron Commander, Infantry Battalion Commander, and Director of Operations for Joint Force HQ-Massachusetts. 

Elbthal has served as the operations officer for Army exercises in Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and served for one year in Afghanistan as an embedded advisor to the Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police. 

He is a graduate of the Army War College and is currently assigned as the Director of Strategic Plans and International Affairs at Joint Force HQ-Massachusetts. He resides in Massachusetts with his wife and three children.

Music will be provided by Mark Watson, Photographs will be taken by Chris Parrella and are sponsored by the Tewksbury Sons of Italy.
