Market Basket Revolt Has Rats Chasing The Cheese

As we enter week 2 of the Market Basket Revolt, the mainstream press appears to be focusing on 2 story lines; Good vs Evil (Arthur T vs Arthur S) and Heros vs Villains ( Employees vs The Board Of Directors). Today I will address a 3rd story line, which has gotten little ink; Political Rats (Self Serving Politicians ) chasing the cheese (Election Year Spotlight)

As noble as the Market Basket Employees have been in their fight to bring back their friend and mentor Arthur T Demoulas, the Massachusetts and New Hampshire politicians who have jumped on the band wagon to get some free press have been equally self serving. Mass State Treasurer candidate Barry Finegold was the first to see a great press opportunity and with his State House cronies, he  hi jacked the Market Basket employee rally held earlier in the week. Since he found this goldmine of free publicity Finegold has gotten a tan from the TV lights that would make most fervent beach goers jealous as he does one interview after another.

Not to be out done by the politicos from the smaller state to her south  New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan quickly jumped on the internet to grab her moment in the Market Basket sun. Soon after, many other legislators from the NH State House in Concord sent out their own statements on the issue.

Its disgraceful that the Massachusetts legislators who's state slogan is "Whats in it for me?" and the NH legislators who are sinking in debt from their  pension issues  and Medicaid exchange funding crisis are spending all their time on something  that is none of their business, instead of serving the taxpayers in their respective states.

Eventually this news story will end and then the politicos will have have to campaign on their records instead of latching on to the noble Market Basket employees. Law makers in 2 states are shaking in their designer shoes as they wait for that day to come
