Tewksbury RedCats Girls U10 Hockey Team travelled to Charlestown for a road game and skated away with an impressive 6-3 win.

On Saturday November 17th the Tewksbury RedCats Girls U10 Hockey Team travelled to Charlestown for a road game and skated away with an impressive 6-3 win.

The RedCats came out flying and immediately gained offensive zone pressure when Ryan Quinn made a great play at the blue line to keep the puck in the offensive zone, sending a nice cross-ice pass to Alice Sharpe who sent a quick shot to the net that the Charlestown goalie saved.  The RedCats took a 1-0 lead 4 minutes into the 1st period when Lydia Pendleton made a nice play at her own blue line breaking up a Charlestown forward and skating the puck into the neutral zone where she fired a nice pass to Kaylen Taddia on the right wing boards.  Kaylen worked the puck into the offensive zone and sent a cross-ice pass to Maci Chapman at the left circle.  Maci skated around a Charlestown defender and fired a hard wrist shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.  Charlestown battled back getting pucks to the RedCats net but goalie Megan Cunningham made 2 outstanding saves to keep the lead for the RedCats.  The RedCats took a 2-0 lead when the Taber sisters, Sammy and Eryn, combined on a great give-n-go which ended with Eryn firing a hard wrist shot over the Charlestown goalie's glove.

Charlestown was able to cut the RedCats lead to 2-1 but the RedCats quickly got their 2 goal lead back as Maci Chapman picked up a loose puck at her own blue line, deked around the Charlestown defense, skated in on a breakaway, and beat the goalie through the 5-hole for her 2nd goal of the game and a 3-1 RedCats lead.  Charlestown tried to gain offensive zone pressure but the RedCats super 'D' crew of Alexis Raymond, Jade Owirka, Lydia Pendleton, and Ryan Quinn made great defensive plays to keep the puck away from the RedCats net.  Left wing Abby O'Keefe made a great play on the backcheck to steal the puck from a Charlestown forward, and sent a great pass to Caitlin Marchant at the blue line.  Caitlin split the Charlestown defense and fired a hard wrist shot into the back of the net for the 4-2 lead.

The RedCats kept pressure on Charlestown, controlling much of the play early in the 3rd period.  Alexis Raymond and Jade Owirka combined to break up a Charlestown scoring chance, Eryn Taber picked up the loose puck and skated the puck into the Charlestown zone where she sent a great pass to her sister Sammy at the left face-off circle.  Sammy skated in and fired a wrist shot top-shelf that the Charlestown goalie never saw.  RedCats goalie Megan Cunningham made a great save on a Charlestown breakaway and used her quickness to tie up the loose puck before Charlestown could get to the puck.  The RedCats closed out the scoring with 3 minutes to play in the game when Ryan Quinn made a great defensive play breaking up a 2-on-1 and sent a great pass to Abby O'Keefe at the far blue line.  Abby skated the puck into the Charlestown zone firing a hard wrist shot that the goalie saved but Caitlin Marchant was in perfect position to knock the rebound into the empty net for the 6-3 RedCats win.
