Jr. Redmen Squirt AAA Hockey Team beats Winchester 4-3.

On Wednesday March 12th the Jr. Redmen Squirt AAA Hockey Team traveled to Malden and left the rink with a 4-3 win over the Winchester Sachems.

The Jr. Redmen knew they would have to be at their best against a talented skating Sachem team.  Winchester jumped out to an early lead scoring just 2 minutes into the game.  The Sachems kept attacking but great defensive efforts from Timmy Sweeney and Andrew Grieco kept the score at 1-0.  The Jr. Redmen tied the game 1-1 with 3:02 left in the 1st period when Brady Chapman made a beautiful cross-ice pass to Jake McDonough who skated down the left wing and fired a perfect wrister into the far corner of the net.

The Jr. Redmen dominated the 2nd period, scoring 3 goals in a 5-minute span.  Sean Murphy got things started for the Jr. Redmen as he skated around and through 3 Sachem defenders and beat the goalie with a great backhander.  Justin Rooney increased the lead to 3-1 just 2 minutes later on the powerplay as he fired a nice snap shot over the goalie’s blocker, assists to Sean Murphy and Alex Pescatore.  The Jr. Redmen kept attacking and scored again to make the score 4-1 when Sean Murphy scored his 2nd goal of the game, assists to Conor Cremin and Justin Rooney.
