Jr. Redmen Squirt AAA Hockey Team plays in "Winter Classic"

The Jr. Redmen Squirt AAA Hockey Team played under the lights in a “Winter Classic” game on Thursday January 23rd against the Brookline AAA Warriors at the Jack Kirrane Outdoor Rink in Brookline.

The temperature was 15 degrees at puck drop and moved down into the single digits by the end of the game.  The cold temperatures did not slow down the Jr. Redmen skaters as they used their speed, quickness, and puck moving ability to control play for the majority of the game.

The Jr. Redmen exploded for 6 goals in the game, including 3 by Jake McDonough and single goals by Jason Cooke, Sean Murphy, and Justin Rooney.  Assists on these goals went to Alex Pescatore, Conor Cremin, Brady Chapman, Billy Doherty, Andrew Della Piana, and Maci Chapman.  Great defensive efforts from Timmy Sweeney, Jack Griffin, Jason Cooke, and Justin Rooney kept the puck out of the Jr. Redmen zone for the majority of the game.  When the Brookline Warriors were able to get shots on net, the Jr. Redmen got great goaltending from Ben O’Keefe, who at times was seen doing jumping jacks and skating side-to-side to keep himself warm when the Jr. Redmen were controlling play in the Brookline zone.

The Jr. Redmen parents, brothers, and sisters were all bundled up and did a great job of cheering on their favorite team.  The Fluff cups made an appearance and assisted in keeping the parents insulated.

A great night and a lasting memory for the Jr. Redmen players and families.
