Alice T. McGee, 93

U.S. Army WWII Veteran.


The following information is provided by Tewksbury Funeral Home:

Alice T. (Teixeira)  McGee, R.N., age 93, a WWII Veteran, died Monday, July 22, at Lowell General Hospital, Saint’s Campus.  She was the beloved wife of Walter S. McGee, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Alice was born in Lawrence, November 30, 1919, one of three children of the late Jose Borge and Theresza (Medeiros) Teixeira, and raised in Lawrence.

She began her nursing career at the Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing, and enlisted into the U.S. Army as nurse during WWII.  She served in Africa, and later in Hawaii, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Lieutenant.

She worked in several area nursing homes as a charge nurse and administrator, as well as a private duty nurse.

Mrs. McGee was a resident of Tewksbury for 56 years, and when in better health wintered in Port Charlotte, FL.  She was a member of the St. William’s Parish community in Tewksbury and a life member of the Tewksbury American Legion Post.

She is survived by two sons, Allen W. McGee and Alvan S. McGee, both of Tewksbury; and was sister of the late Daniel Teixeira and Beatrice Goud.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 26, at 2:00 p.m. in Tewksbury Cemetery. At her request, visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 will be appreciated.  Arrangements are through the Tewksbury Funeral Home.
