John J. Barry Jr., 59

Tewksbury resident, formerly of Malden.


The following information is provided by Tewksbury Funeral Home: 

John J. Barry Jr., age 59, a former Malden resident, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, June 29, at his home from an apparent heart attack.  

He was the beloved husband of Sandy A. (Cardarelli) Barry, with whom he had celebrated a 37th wedding anniversary this past November 23rd.

“Johnny” was born, November 23, 1953, one of four children of the late John J. and Ruth (Allen) Barry, and was raised in Malden.  He lived in Saugus before moving to Tewksbury in 1994.

Prior to his disability retirement, he worked as a truck driver for the West Lynn Creamery in Lynn.

He was a member of both the Malden Italian American Club and the Malden Irish American Club.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kerianne Capadanno and her husband, Brad of Lowell; two sisters, Eileen Edeman and her husband Alan of Billerica, Kathy Barry of Saugus; a brother, Robert Barry and his wife Mary (Correa) of Hudson, MA; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lenny and Barbara (Danna) Cardarelli of Tewksbury, Michael and Merlene (Frost) Cardarelli of Malden, Mary (Cardarelli) and Mark Finocchario of Methuen, Daniel Cardarelli of Tewksbury, who was husband of late Lisa (Donovan) Cardarelli, Anthony and Kerry (Harrison) Cardarelli of Bellingham, MA; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation Friday, July 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, phone (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 6, at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury, followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. William’s Parish, 1351 Main St. Tewksbury, MA 01876, will be appreciated.
