Late Tewksbury Resident Raised Family of Seven in Town

Alma Hersey, 81, died peacefully on Monday morning.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Tewksbury Funeral Home.

Alma E. (Belliveau) Hersey, age 81, died peacefully Monday morning, June 9, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. She was the beloved wife of the late Lea S. Hersey.

She was born in Malden, March 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Agno and Agnes Belliveau, and raised in Malden. She moved to Tewksbury in 1962, to raise her family of seven, where she had remained a resident.

She worked as a keypunch operator at the Internal Revenue Service, Andover Service Center until her retirement in 1998.

She will be remembered as having devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by five children, Stuart and his wife Chihiro (Mauki) Hersey of Lexington, Susan Checo of Tewksbury, Sandra and her husband Robert Hillson of Billerica, Scott and his wife Lisa (Howley) Hersey of Tewksbury, Darrin Hersey of Methuen; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; her sister and brothers, Annette and Leonard Dodge of Melrose, Allen and Linda Belliveau of Malden, Albert Belliveau of Revere; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughters, Nancy Hersey and Denise Hersey; her son-in-law Robert Checo; and her sister Ann Hoffman.
