Late Tewksbury Resident Was Bookkeeper, St. William's Church Communicant

TEWKSBURY - Jean C. Fitzgerald, age 83, died peacefully on Thursday morning, March 13, at Lowell General Hospital following a brief illness.

Jean was born in Winchester, August 11, 1930, one of three daughters of the late James and Dorothy (Ladd) Fitzgerald. She was raised in Winchester, and lived in Lowell before moving to Tewksbury seventeen years ago.

Prior to retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper at Press, Bateman, and Turner Insurance Agency in Boston, and later Waltham.

Jean loved her sisters and their families and was always present at family gatherings. Her nieces and nephews were her beloved “children.” She loved long drives in the country, summers in Vermont, adventures in rafting with her nephews in the white waters of Vermont’s White River. She loved cats, playing cards, knitting, and baking cookies for her nieces, nephews and neighbors.

She was also a communicant of St. William’s Church at the 4 o’clock Saturday Masses.

She leaves her sister, Barbara Manna of Tewksbury and was predeceased by her sister, Bette Ward; her long time companion, Norm Benson of Tewksbury; ten nieces and nephews, Jeffrey and Barbara Manna of Tewksbury, Roberta Manna of Bonita, FL, Deborah and Lawrence Michaud of No. Andover, Stephanie Manna of Wakefield, Michael and Anne Manna of Reading, Valerie and Michael Cardella of St. Petersburg, FL, Stephen and Diane Ward of Wilmington, Sharon and Robert Mickle of East Andover, NH, Pamela and Frank Downs of Wilmington, Lisa and Dana Tarricone of Atkinson; nineteen great nieces and great nephews; and fourteen great grand nieces and nephews.
