Longtime Tewksbury Resident Was Army Veteran, Trade School Teacher

Francis J. "Frank" Boyer, 85, passed away last week at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill with his family by his side.

Francis J. "Frank" Boyer, Jr., age 85, a 58 year Tewksbury resident, passed away at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, March 25.

He was the beloved husband of Rose Marie (Lenzi) Boyer, who passed away on April 19, 2004 and devoted father of Arlene M. Brooks, who passed away on July 7, 2009.

Born in Boston on April 25, 1928, he was the son of the late Francis J. Boyer, Sr. and the late Mary E. (Muise) Boyer.

Frank was raised in East Boston, attended East Boston schools and graduated from East Boston High School.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War with Company I, 508th Airborne Infantry.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Printing Teacher by the Boston Trade High School, where he worked for 28 years.

Frank was a communicant of St. William's Parish in Tewksbury.

He was member of several organizations including the Fr. Francis Coppens Council # 4336 Knights Of Columbus of Tewksbury, the D.A.V. Post # 110 of Tewksbury, the Boston Teachers Union and the Baldwin Apples Square Dance Group of Burlington, where he served as Treasurer.

Frank enjoyed salt water fishing, dancing, feeding the birds in his back yard, and traveling with his family and friends.

He is survived by four children, Joyce A. Sabato and her husband Dr. Joseph Sabato, Jr. of St. Augustine, FL, Richard J. Boyer and his wife Colleen (Murphy) of Merrimack, NH, James F. Boyer and his wife Tina (French) of Leominster, and Linda J. Amico and her husband Robert of Nashua, NH; two brothers-in-law, Edward Lenzi and his wife Susan of Hudson, NH and Richard Hatch and his wife Julia of Plymouth; his beloved friend, Beatrice Marlow of Medford; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
