Obituary: Retired Teacher Lived in Tewksbury With Wife of 25 Years

Roger W. Neal, 75, lost a two-year battle with declining health.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Tewksbury Funeral Home.

Roger W. Neal, age 75, a retired teacher, died Thursday, July 3, after a courageous two year battle with declining health. He was the beloved husband of Marie J. (McCarthy) Neal, with whom he had celebrated a 25th wedding anniversary this past August 6.

Roger was born in Somerville, March 20, 1939, a son of the late Waldo A. and Louise K. (Weeber) Neal, and lived the greater part of his life in Arlington. He graduated from Arlington High School with the Class of 1957, and earned his Bachelors Degree and Masters Degrees from Northeastern University. He moved to Tewksbury after his marriage to Marie.

Roger retired from teaching at the Ottoson Middle School, in Arlington.

Roger enjoyed his home and yard, and was a faithful monthly poker player with his circle of friends.

Besides his wife, he leaves a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Janet (MacMillian) Neal of Cape Cod and Florida; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to either, the Salvation Army, 150 Appleton St., Lowell, MA 01852 or the Shriner’s Hospital Burns Center, Attn: Development Office, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114, will be appreciated.
