Obituary: Tewksbury Woman, 84, Was Church Member and Mother of Three

Maria L. (DaSilva) Cunha, age 84, lived in Tewksbury for 12 years.

Maria L. (DaSilva) Cunha, age 84, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 12 years, passed away at the Blaire House of Tewksbury on Saturday, March 22, 2014.

She was the beloved wife of Victor Cunha, who passed away on July 12, 1996.

Born Portugal on July 31, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Manuel DaSilva and the late Eliza (Silva) DaSilva.

Maria resided in Cambridge until moving to Tewksbury in 2002. While living in Cambridge, she was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for 10 years in the Housekeeping Dept. for Boston University.

She is survived by three children, Eliza Quadros and her husband Jose of Hull, Canada, Freddy Cunha and his wife Theresa of Wilmington and Leo Cunha and his wife Febe of Tewksbury; her daughter-in-law, Arlette Cunha of Somerville; her siblings, Maria Luiza DaSilva of Canada, Silvina DoSantos of Gracoisa, Lamberto Da Silva of Canada, Aldina Santos of Malden, MA, and Joao Manuel DaSilva of Canada; also eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Maria was the mother of the late Manuel Cunha, sister of the late Manuel DaSilva and Candido DaSilva and grandmother of the late Louie Cunha.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 25, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, March 26, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
