Shane M. Contalonis, 12

Shane M. Contalonis, age 12, a 6th grade student at the Ryan Elementary School, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus.

Born in Cambridge on October 29, 2000, he was the beloved son of Thomas J. Contalonis, Jr. and Maureen E. (Flavin) Contalonis.

Shane loved playing baseball, announcing football games, telling jokes and making everyone SMILE!, and most of all he love hanging out with his friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Thomas J. "TJ" Contalonis of Tewksbury; his maternal grandmother, Frances Flavin of Bedford; his paternal grandparents: Thomas and Nancy Contalonis of Woburn; also many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Shane was also the maternal grandson of the late Joseph Flavin .

Calling hours will be Friday, June 14, from 4-8 p.m., in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Saturday, June 15, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation,www.ednf.org, 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102

 

Traffic Information for Shane Contalonis's wake according to the Tewksbury Police Department:

Due to the large amount of people/vehicles that are expected at these services, special arraignments have been made for traffic.

As of right now, at the start of the wake, traffic on Lee Street will be one way with vehicle entering from East Street entrance.  Vehicles leaving the services will exit Lee Street on to Chandler Street.  Lee Street will remain one way until services are rendered.  No one (including residents) will be allowed enter Lee Street from Chandler Street until completion of services and the road has been opened back up for two (2) way travel.

A detail officer will be stationed at East Street and Lee Street to direct attendee’s to park in the Farmer and Dee parking lot or on Lee Street, if needed.  Once the parking lot and Lee Street are filled to capacity, they will direct individuals to park at the cemetery. Brad Dee has received already received permission from the property owner to use this area for over flow traffic. 

A  cruiser will be assigned to Lee Street and Chandler Street assist with traffic flow and avoid traffic back up on Lee Street.
