Tewksbury Woman Was Beloved Wife of Retired Fire Captain

Theresa "Terri" Margro passed away on Saturday, July 12, after a period of declining health.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Tewksbury Funeral Home.

Theresa “Terri” (Adams) Magro, age 84, died peacefully on Saturday morning, July 12, at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen, surrounded by her beloved children, after a brief period of declining health. For 64 years, she was the wife of retired Fire Captain William “Bill” Magro, who died on Christmas Day, 2012.

Terri was born in Cambridge, August 5, 1929, one of four children of the late Joseph and Regina (Cossette) Adams. She was raised in the Cambridge-Somerville area, and married Bill in 1948. They moved to Tewksbury in 1954 to raise their family. She worked for W.T. Grant in Wilmington, and later Service Merchandise in Tewksbury. After retirement, she and Bill wintered in Ft. Pierce, Florida, enjoyed travel and golf, and time with her family and friends.

She is survived by three children, William E. Magro and his wife Frances (Piazza) Magro of Methuen, Thomas A. Magro of Nashua, NH, and his fiancée Darlene Forsyth of Dracut, and Janet M. (Smith) Consoli and her husband Stephen of Hampton, NH; former daughter in-law, Maureen Magro of Dunstable; eight grandchildren, MaryBeth Belfatto and her husband John of Redding, CT, Jaclyn Reda and her husband Randy of Litchfield, NH, Thomas Magro of Dunstable, Rebecca Butterworth and her husband Dana of Methuen, Ryan Magro of W. VA, Kristen Magro of Bedford, NH, William A. Magro and his wife Callan of San Diego, CA, Jeffrey Magro of Dunstable; three great grandsons, William, Christopher, and Mason; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Shad Smith; brothers, Joseph Adams and Francis Adams; and a sister, Pauline Kingman.

Relatives and friends will be received Wednesday, July 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, phone (800 or 978) 851 2950.

Her funeral will begin Thursday, July 17, at 8:45 from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass Thursday at 10:00 in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38) Wilmington. Burial will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the MSPCA, Nevin’s Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01854 will be appreciated.
