Well Known Tewksbury Businessman, 70, Passes Away Unexpectedly

George S. Ward operated Tewksbury Center Texaco and later worked as a driver for Cole's Transportation.

The following is an obituary courtesy of Tewksbury Funeral Home.

George S. Ward, age 70, a well known former Tewksbury businessman, died unexpectedly at his Carnation Drive residence on Thursday, May 15.

George was born in Somerville the only child of the late George S. and Louise (Antico) Ward, and was raised in Somerville. He moved to Tewksbury in 1968, later lived in Londonderry and Derry, New Hampshire, and moved back to Tewksbury twelve years ago.

He operated the Tewksbury Center Texaco service station for many years. Later he worked as a driver for Cole’s Transportation, and retired as an independent trucker, with his own delivery service.

He is survived by four children, Kelly-Ann Oleson and her husband Frederick of Nashua, George “Buddy” Ward III and his wife Nichole (Page) Ward, Kevin Ward and his wife Heather (Campbell) Ward, and Jill Ward all of Tewksbury, seven beloved grandchildren, Cordae, Sarah, Lindsey, Madeline, Maggie, Annabel, Olivia, his former wife Deborah K. (Gillis) Ward of Tewksbury, and many friends throughout the Merrimack Valley and beyond.

At his request, funeral services were private.
